Pros
1
Responsive and communicative attorneys who keep clients informed throughout the process
“Dmitriy was always very prompt in his responses, thorough with his explanations, relentless towards opposing council, and yet still very aware and considerate to make sure I was comfortable every step of the way.”
2
Attorneys who demonstrate compassion and understanding for their clients
“Dmitriy came in mid stream in a very complicated divorce/custody battle. He was the third attorney, the youngest, and by far the very best. He came into a mess. I was given extremely poor legal advice, another attorney withdrew from my case. I was in need of an attorney who would fight for me and my children.”
3
Attorneys who work diligently and go above and beyond to achieve the best possible outcome for their clients
“Dmitriy was amazing. He gave me strength and support through a very difficult season in my life. He was my biggest encourager and was always available when I needed him. He helped me get a good outcome in a very challenging situation.”
4
Attorneys who are transparent and provide clear guidance throughout the legal process
“Dmitriy explained every option from beginning to end as our case evolved and was honest along the way.”
5
Affordable legal services with fair pricing
“He was affordable, he took immediate action to stop what my ex-wife was doing. He kept me updated the whole time either by text, phone or email and ensured me everything would be handled.”
Cons
1
Potential issues with communication and responsiveness from some attorneys
“They are very good in family divorce cases, very professional, I recommend them.”
2
Concerns about lack of attention or interest in some client cases
“They're good for 1 piece of advice but would never hire them, mostly because you can't since they never return calls or even try to be hired.”

I became a client for Dmitriy and his firm of 2023. From the start, Dmitriy and his associates were kind and welcoming at each time in their office visit. After sitting through my consultation I knew that this was the firm for me. Dmitriy was clear and consistent in letting me know how healthy in they operate . I received excellent service and assistance from Dmitriy's office. The office was responsive and caring on all my needs. Although I do not have a resolution as yet, Dmitriy is relentless in advising me of all the risks and exposure I have in my case. Henry Sondermon and his office is very thorough and detailed and I would recommend him to any service .

I became a client for Dmitriy and his firm in May of 2023. From the start, Dmitriy and his associates were kind and welcoming at each in-office visit. After sitting through my consultation I knew that this was the firm for me. Dmitriy was clear and consistent in letting me know how he operates cases similar to my own. He broke down many possible scenarios and likelihood of particular situations happening. He was able to take the common jargon he uses and bring it to a level that someone without a law degree would understand. He never made me feel dumb or inferior. He respected the decisions I wanted to make, while helping me to weigh the pros and cons of each choice. He consistently answered phone calls and emails within respectable time frames. He also did an amazing job with keeping up on mass amounts of information that was given to him. He was organized and I was amazed at what he was able to accomplish knowing that I was not the only case he was handling at the time. His staff worked endlessly to ensure that my voice was heard as a client and I have never felt that I was being ignored. In the end, I’m thrilled with how my case turned out and Dmitriy and his staff are to thank. I’m not sure I could have done it without their help and guidance.

Aaron Kenter is a professional, hard working, hard fighting, take-no-prisoners attorney that I have had the honor to represent me. I desperately needed help with my child custody case. My previous attorney screwed my case up something horrible, was weak, and not very experienced with contested custody cases, or tough opposing lawyers and magistrates. My previous attorney was a very, very nice guy..the HELL with that!!!!! I needed a lawyer who was smart, fearless, knowledgeable and experienced with the heart of a tiger shark! Aaron Kenter (and his supervisor Tony Greco) are textbook definitions of a phenomenal, dedicated attorneys who get the job done! Because of these two gentlemen... They won my case, I have my son, I have peace of mind. and they taught my ex a lesson she will never forget! If you ever need lawyers who will fight like hell on your side, make you laugh when you think there is no hope in the world of you winning, and have a long proven track record of winning tough cases... look no further then this very talented attorney! Thank you so much Aaron for all your hard work and phenomenal expertise!

Our case came at a time when we were looking for answers for the best way to handle a less than supportive environment for my daughter. This office and Aaron in particular was honest with us about our case. He supported me through a difficult time and showed me direction when I needed it. He was always available day or night to help, Aaron is an extremely knowledgeable and experienced attorney in all areas of the domestic/family law area. In a practice area that can be very emotional and antagonistic, Aaron remains calm with his effective focus on the factual and legal issues. Aaron remains very caring about his clients and is a professionally relentless advocate on their behalf. I could not have gotten through this without him and his determination.

I have had the pleasure of having Alex twice. Once for my gf for a DUI. He let us know what was going on through the whole thing. Helped get her license back ASAP. He got all other charges dismissed. Then I had to use him for my case driving under suspension. He helped me get driving priveldges then got all other charges dismissed. And only chsrged with no operator license. Very small fine. My gf and I are very pleased with him and would recommend him to everybody we know. His fees are reasonable and he will work with on them. He answers calls and texts within the hour.

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Columbus, Ohio?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
