They were not courteous or kind to me. The lady was somewhat rude and condescending towards me. Didn't even bother to look up the health complaint herself she made me find and email it to her even after giving her the tracking number for it, she didn't offer to help at all. And then wanted to tell me I have a time-line to file a suit... which I already knew from talking to previous attorneys I decided to not even go through with this firm because her attitude. Best of luck to everyone else trying to get justice for a lost parent.

I cannot say enough about the Donahey Law Firm! I had called other attorneys in town, even out off town, and was told we
(my mom and I) didn't have a case. I called and left a message at Donahey, and they promptly called me back to take the case. I worked with Dan Newman, who was absolutely phenomenal. He explained how everything would work. He explained what they were working on at that point in time and he truly cared about my case. I could email his Paralegal, Kim, at anytime with whatever minute question I had and she reassured me it was no trouble for her. When it came time for the settlement, Dan was able to get more than I even hoped, and I agreed to it right away. He then called me the next week to tell me he was able to get a little (A LOT) more. I know he worked very hard for my mom and me. I cannot sing his praises enough.

Despite providing substantial documentation to support our claims, our concerns have been consistently disregarded by State Farm Fire and Casualty, leading us to contemplate submitting complaints against the attorney representing State Farm Fire and Casualty to The Ohio Board of Professional Conduct and The Office of Disciplinary Counsel. State Farm's actions have demonstrated a pattern of bad faith practices, including a failure to conduct a thorough investigation into our corporation and the unauthorized disclosure of confidential policy information to a third party without proper authorization. These actions have not only hindered the progress of our insurance claim but also infringed upon our rights as a small African American-owned business.
Specifically, we would like to highlight the following grievances:
1. **Failure to Conduct a Proper Investigation**: We contend that State Farm neglected to conduct a comprehensive investigation into our insurance claim, focusing erroneously on individual personnel rather than engaging with all relevant stakeholders as required by Ohio regulations.
2. **Lack of Personal Contact**: Despite my pivotal role within the corporation and clear documentation listing my responsibilities, State Farm failed to make any direct contact with me during their investigation, breaching standard investigative protocols.
3. **Allegations of Discrimination**: Our status as an African American-owned business raises concerns of potential discrimination in State Farm's handling of our claim, with actions suggesting bias in their decision-making processes. Additionally State Farm Fire and Casualty company disclosed policy information to an unauthorized party without any consent from any officer, partner or shareholder of our corporation. (Attached evidence) Please view the attached sworn under oath statements attached specifically answer number 7
"7. Please admit or deny that you, Deborah McSurley, were given notice that on or about
August 16, 2022, Claim Number 35-29N7-27R had been denied.
ANSWER: Admit. I contacted State Farm’s corporate office and they advised me I was
not a named insured and that the claim had been denied."
4. **Engagement with Black Lives Matter**: In response to perceived injustices, we have reached out to the Black Lives Matter organization to seek support and potentially raise awareness of our case within the community and beyond.
5. **Attempts to Resolve the Issue**: Multiple efforts to engage with State Farm's attorney, Lori Thomson, have been met with silence, prompting us to explore alternative avenues of addressing these issues.
6. **Potential Legal Actions**: Considering the gravity of the situation, we are prepared to pursue further legal actions against State Farm for their alleged misconduct, including filing formal complaints with relevant regulatory bodies.

To the distinguished members of The Ohio Disciplinary Counsel,
I wish to express my gratitude for the valuable services provided by your esteemed organization, which enables consumers to address professional misconduct. I am writing to share my experience regarding State Farm Fire and Casualty's attorney, Ms. Lori Thomson.
I have personally experienced violations of my rights, including racial discrimination and defamation of character, at the hands of State Farm Fire and Casualty. Additionally, the rights of our protected class organization, The HCV Distribution Corporation, have been consistently disregarded by Ms. Thomson. The attached document provides evidence of State Farm Fire and casualty's breach of our company's private policy information by sharing it with an unauthorized third party. Despite clear violations of my rights and those of our company, Ms. Thomson has failed to respond adequately to our requests for resolution. She has also instructed us not to contact State Farm Fire and Casualty regarding these violations, yet she continues to disregard our attempts to seek a resolution.
In February 2024, we sent a certified letter to State Farm Fire and Casualty seeking a settlement for these violations. Although it was received and signed for, it was ultimately disregarded. The response from Ms. Thomson included personal threats of criminal charges for our attempts to address these violations. I am reporting Ms. Thomson to the professional board of conduct due to suspected racial discriminatory actions, which parallel the treatment we have received from State Farm Fire and Casualty.
Despite providing sworn evidence of the violations and rights infringements, Ms. Thomson has ignored our requests and resorted to threatening me personally with criminal charges, despite her client's violation of my personal rights and those of our corporation, The HCV Distribution Corporation Inc. We are urgently seeking your involvement to address these violations.
I would like to emphasize that I am a registered minister in the state of Ohio and a sworn public servant notary in Lucas County with a clear background and record. It is both unprofessional and a violation of my rights for Ms. Thomson to threaten filing a police report against me for seeking answers and a resolution.
We have filed complaints with various authorities, including The Ohio Department of Insurance, The Ohio Civil Rights Commission, The Ohio Attorney General's Office, The Ohio Supreme Court, The Ohio Office of Disciplinary Counsel, the Better Business Bureau, The Office of the Honorable Governor Mike DeWine, The Consumer Protection Bureau, The Federal Trade Commission, and the Office of Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown.
I kindly ask for your immediate involvement and appropriate actions to address these actions committed against me personally and against our corporation, The HCV Distribution Corporation. I have attached relevant documents for your review and appreciate your assistance in addressing this serious and ongoing matter.

We would like to request that our complaint against State Farm Corporation be added to our file. Despite our repeated attempts to resolve the matter through various means of communication including email, mail, fax, and voicemail messages left with their attorney Lori Tompson, we have yet to receive a response from State Farm Corporation. Mr. Kimble, Director of Operations, and Mr. Spencer, Chief Financial Officer have attempted contact by conference several times. This lack of response further underscores our concerns regarding the violations of our rights as the only African American corporation in Swanton, OH. Today is 06/06/2024

Mixed review please read! I am not a lot of other reviewers who are mad at the people they have to pay because they made a mistake. I made a mistake and I understand I must pay. They are really decent people who will work with you the best they can- *if YOU communicate*! However and this is a BIG however KEEP YOUR CONFIRMATION EMAILS. 1-2 times a year they claim I haven’t paid, when indeed I have. Luckily I can always pull the confirmation numbers up from my email and in the off chance I can’t, I can prove it with my online bank statements. This issue greatly needs remedied because it is unacceptable for any business, company, whatever to make this
mistake. Not everyone utilizes email and not everyone uses online banking. I really hope this isn’t done on purpose, because as I said from my experience, they are not horrible people at all like so many claim. Just pay the dang money you owe because you’re the one who made the mistake.

Have been paying on an accident for over 5 years. Balance isn't right at all. Not only that they are making my mother and I pay on the same account. I will be taking this back to court. What they do is illegal and think they can't be touched. Awful people, rude and unprofessional.

I rarely leave a review but this time I have to. I contacted this firm to ask if they would represent me to pursue a case against a defendant.
Without my permission, this firm shared all my personal information with another law firm and this firm also falsely depicted/described my case to the other law firm with a lot of their misrepresentation of my case.
Maybe I should file a bar complaint against this firm for breaching the privilege (which exists even if you don’t officially hire the law firm), making false statements, and pretending to be me to fill in a form that I didn’t authorize them to file.
