It is highly unlikely that many people really desire to publicly review their divorce attorney, especially those who did not want a divorce such as myself. However, after working with Tracy (Trace) Younkin and Grossman Law Offices for the last 8 months, I feel motivated to do just that. Trace has a very steady and pleasant manner. "How could I possibly like talking to a divorce attorney?," I wondered after our first meeting. In that meeting, he reviewed and explained everything that I needed to know for the next 8 months AND how each of them would most likely be resolved - the 3 Parts of Divorce/Dissolution: 1) Division of Marital Assets; 2) Parental Rights; and, 3) Support - Child & Spousal. Essentially, he told me everything that I needed to know during that first meeting. Thank goodness I took notes. However, at the very end of the process, I had a change of heart and decided to forgo my pre-marital assets & any claim to the house because I wanted our children to never be forced to move out of the home that they were born into. When I notified Trace, we were at the courthouse preparing for what should have been our last meeting and court procedure - to finalize the division of assets. Obviously, I threw everyone a major league curve-ball and did not give Trace enough lead-time to prepare as the Division of Assets document had already been completed. This last document was already agreed to by both sides and was just awaiting everyone's signatures and then had to be confirmed in court in front of the judge. Trace calmly explained that he was concerned about my last minute request and asked that we take a break, leave the courthouse, and discuss it over lunch. We hand-scratched on a sheet of paper the monetary ramifications of my decision. He asked that I sign it - as any good attorney should - since his job is to advocate for me as much as possible. Even after lunch, he continued to explain to me various "what if" scenarios where I would need the money that I was giving-up such as "what if I became disabled" (I did not have insurance at the time). In summary, Trace came-up with every possible reason why I should reconsider my position; and, we discussed it. Obviously, he truly cared and worried about me as his client. Throughout this entire time, opposing counsel continuously interrupted our discussions to try & quickly finalize everything...to an annoying degree (literally every 5-10 min.). However, Trace kept his composure with both opposing counsel and myself (as I was the one who blind-sided him on the last day of mediation). If I were in Trace's shoes, I know that I would not have been as gracious as he was. Trace let nothing phase him as he focused on making sure that I completely understood what I was doing before signing anything. In the end, Trace understood why I was doing it and why it was the best decision for myself and for my children. It was truly a pleasure to work with and get to know Trace who has a high ethical, moral, and caring character. Combine that with having the resources of one of the best law firms in the state, and I would not recommend anyone else. It is no wonder that Trace is one of US News' "Best Lawyers" and Grossman Law Offices is one of the "Best Law Firms."

I can’t say enough good things about Jodi Smilack and I’m so glad she’s back in Ohio. She helped me with my divorce over 3 years ago. She was organized, professional, and very knowledgeable. I always felt like I could count on her to give me the best advice, even if it wasn’t more profitable to her. When I had questions or concerns, I knew I would be able to get in touch with her via phone, email or in person within 24 hours (depending on if she was in court that day). My divorce wasn’t pretty, but she kept me very grounded and helped me understand what the judge or guardian ruled. Now, my ex and I have a great co-parenting relationship.
