Jessee is honest, reliable and most of all in this to help people. I have hired him and had him give me (sound) advice. He will steer you in the right direction if he cannot help or if you are contacting him and it is not within his area of practice. If you are looking you owe it to yourself to give him a call! You will not be disappointed!

I HIGHLY recommend this law firm. I approached Mr. Jesse Atkins for legal adivce regarding real-estate property rights. I was concerned about the high prices most attorneys charge to help answer a brief and specific question without the prospective client having any gurantee the question is within the attorney's area of expertise. However, Mr Jesse Atkins met - and in some instances - exceeded my expecations because (1) he quote me for an reasonable & affordable fee for legal advice, (2) He's staff were very responsive and maintain continuous communication (Mrs. Betty Schuller) (3) Mr. Jesse Atkins walked into the conference meeting prepared with my notes previously emailed and brought in another attorney who could provide additional legal support (Mr. Brian) My first conference call and experience with this law firm compelled me to share my highest recommendation.

Dealing with a lawyer we never met from out of state and through email only I was honestly a little skeptical about the service we would receive. My three brothers and I hired Jesse to handle our oldest brother's estate throughout the probate process which included the selling of his condominium. Jesse put any of my doubts aside as he was outstanding from the start. He continuously provided us information pertaining to the case throughout the entire process. His response time to questions we would submit through email was almost automatic. It seemed we always had a reply within a few hours and some cases immediately. His work was exceptional at what I believe was a very fair cost to us. I would highly recommend Jesse's services.

I am not sure if I can adequately write a review that Jesse truly deserves. My husband and I found ourselves in an unfamiliar probate situation and was overwhelmed by the process and an unjust allegation. Not only was he able to defend us from an unwarranted accusation, his calm and empathetic demeanor offered emotional succor to me and my husband. While the outcome was favorable, it was Jesse’s ability to be an active listener and educate us through the process that was more appreciated. I would recommend Mr. Atkins without reservation.

Upon our oldest brother's passing my [3] brothers and I had the task ahead of us resolving his issues and closing his estate. We had no idea what to do. Three of us are out of state with one in Ohio. Somewhere along the line we were referred to Mr. Atkins. What a life-saver!! It wasn't an easy road to travel working our brother's issues but Jesse made it all painless doing everything we had no idea how to go about. He kept us well informed and constantly up to date. He was always very professional in his communication and prompt with his responses. He made the probate and closure of the estate as painless as possible. I guess the best compliment I could pay him is to Say that if we (I) were ever in the same situation again we (I) would not hesitate to hire him again. Thank you Jesse...

Aaron Kenter is a professional, hard working, hard fighting, take-no-prisoners attorney that I have had the honor to represent me. I desperately needed help with my child custody case. My previous attorney screwed my case up something horrible, was weak, and not very experienced with contested custody cases, or tough opposing lawyers and magistrates. My previous attorney was a very, very nice guy..the HELL with that!!!!! I needed a lawyer who was smart, fearless, knowledgeable and experienced with the heart of a tiger shark! Aaron Kenter (and his supervisor Tony Greco) are textbook definitions of a phenomenal, dedicated attorneys who get the job done! Because of these two gentlemen... They won my case, I have my son, I have peace of mind. and they taught my ex a lesson she will never forget! If you ever need lawyers who will fight like hell on your side, make you laugh when you think there is no hope in the world of you winning, and have a long proven track record of winning tough cases... look no further then this very talented attorney! Thank you so much Aaron for all your hard work and phenomenal expertise!

Our case came at a time when we were looking for answers for the best way to handle a less than supportive environment for my daughter. This office and Aaron in particular was honest with us about our case. He supported me through a difficult time and showed me direction when I needed it. He was always available day or night to help, Aaron is an extremely knowledgeable and experienced attorney in all areas of the domestic/family law area. In a practice area that can be very emotional and antagonistic, Aaron remains calm with his effective focus on the factual and legal issues. Aaron remains very caring about his clients and is a professionally relentless advocate on their behalf. I could not have gotten through this without him and his determination.

I have had the pleasure of having Alex twice. Once for my gf for a DUI. He let us know what was going on through the whole thing. Helped get her license back ASAP. He got all other charges dismissed. Then I had to use him for my case driving under suspension. He helped me get driving priveldges then got all other charges dismissed. And only chsrged with no operator license. Very small fine. My gf and I are very pleased with him and would recommend him to everybody we know. His fees are reasonable and he will work with on them. He answers calls and texts within the hour.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Columbus, Ohio?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
