Gounaris Abboud, LPA were extremely helpful for me in an unfortunate situation. They explained what to expect and what to do as well as maintaining constant contact during the whole process. The level of professionalism was impressive and I wouldn't hesitate to use their services again, but hopefully I'll never need to. If you need legal representation, reach out to them for guidance.

Tony and Michelle have both epitomized professionalism and reliability. I was kept up to date and felt prioritized at all times which is something that can be elusive in their line of work. I really appreciated both of them, and they should be really proud of the work they do. Hopefully I don't require their services again, but I'm glad I know people like them are there if I do!

I cannot recommend Gounaris Abboud highly enough! From the very first consultation, I felt understood and supported during a very stressful time. The team was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain every step of the legal process to me. They were always available to answer my questions, no matter how small, and their attention to detail was impressive. My attorney, Nick Gounaris, was not only professional but also genuinely caring. He fought hard for my case and secured a favorable outcome that exceeded my expectations. I truly felt like I had an advocate in my corner. The office staff, especially Kelsey, was also wonderful—polite, efficient, and always made me feel welcome. If you’re looking for a dedicated and skilled legal defense firm, look no further than Gounaris Abboud. Thank you for everything!

I found Gounaris Abboud law firm through Google reviews. I know sometimes online reviews can be bogus so I decided to do more research. I asked a friend who had lawyer connections and they recommended this firm. The first phone call I was able to speak with Emily (I think she is the assistant lawyer, not sure what the technical term is) but she was able to answer my questions and in detail told me what services they could provide with the initial fee. I think you can set up a payment schedule as well. She was very professional and to the point. Once I agreed and paid the fee an appointment was setup promptly to meet with attorney Tony Abboud. Upon arrival I was impressed with the office setting and the view of the city. Now onto the important part. I spoke with Abbie, Tony's paralegal, she was very friendly and Tony totally surprised me! I thought he would be the stereotypical lawyer but he was nothing like that. He was super friendly while being very professional and a no BS kind of guy. The appointment was supposed to take about an hour but Tony was so thorough that I was there for over 2.5 hours. I left there feeling like I was in good hands and felt like I could trust him. More importantly he also gave me peace of mind. During the entire process Tony and Abbie communicated with me on a regular basis. I never had to reach out to them which was surprising since it was during the busy holidays. One time I called on the weekend and my call was returned promptly. I figured most of my communication would be through Abbie but I spoke with Tony 90% of the time. In my situation Tony was able to get it handled before it even began. He and Abbie definitely made me feel like family and I am grateful to have had them on my side. If you are on the fence about this firm, don't be. You will be in the best of hands! Although I hope I will never need their service again. 🙂 Thank you Tony and Abbie!

Absolutely a fantastic attorney. She is handling my case right now and I have been OVERLY pleased with her responsiveness. There have been a few times she did not get back to me quickly (less than 24 hours); however, those were due to family emergencies...which I think is totally acceptable.

Tom is an exceptional attorney. I never ever thought I would have to file bankruptcy, and I was devastated, however, Tom made the entire process smooth and he answered every question we had. He is extremely compassionate about his firm and his customers. He did not treat us like we were nobodies, instead he understood how difficult a decision this was for us and guided us every step of the way. I cannot say enough good things about him. I would highly recommend him.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Dayton, Ohio?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
