Andrew left a lasting impression on me from day one. He took personal interest in our situation and was quick to offer suggestions. We needed something done quickly and it certainly was. To say that he went above and beyond would be an understatement. The industry could use more people like him. I would highly recommend him to anyone out there. Thank You Andrew for all of your help.

Andrew Wecker and Manos, Martin & Pergram Co., LPA provided excellent service and support for me. I had the opportunity to work with Andrew Wecker on (2) business real estate transactions and found him responsive, knowledgeable and professional on all occasions. Specifically, he is very knowledgeable about working with the local government officials. His thorough understanding and experience with commercial real estate contracts makes Andrew a valuable asset in any transaction.

Andrew represents the best of his profession. He's represented our business in instances of HR issues, clients defaulting on payment and when we experienced a security breach leading to fraudulent credit card charges. On the real estate side, he's advised on and constructed our LLC's and created tenant contracts for those. Hes also advised on situations surrounding breach of those agreements. We have absolute trust in the counsel Andrew provides our organization, and myself personally.

My father passed away and it was a very trying time for me. I needed probate assistance and legal advice. Through an odd set of circumstances I ended up contacting Manos, Martin & Pergram and spoke to Kathleen Johnson. She provided me with valuable help and insight, even before we met in person. The firm was further away from me than other law offices, but after meeting and working Kathleen, I knew I made the right decision. If I need legal assistance in the future, Kathleen will be my first contact.

I called John Jensen because my husband was on probation in Delaware County but we had it transferred down here to Florida since we had moved here. We had gotten an approval to take a trip back home for Christmas and tend to our business in October from the probation department in Florida but when my husband went to his p.o. office 2 days before our flight, his supervisor reversed her approval and claimed she had no authority to let me husband travel outside of the state of Florida. We tried calling our lawyer and a 2nd one who both either said they weren't sure if the judge was in this week, or they tried to get a motion in and were not able to get the case on the docket. I should mention I called other lawyers on Weds. and they didn't let me know they couldn't do it until Thurs or Fri(I was leaving on Sat) and I retained Jensen on Thursday at 2:30p.m. and his assistant Leah Beswick had the motion in the next a.m. Thursday they attempted to reach the probation officer and supervisor down here to work on that end before going to the judge. Leah called me at 4:45p.m. Fri and sent the motion that was granted! Leah offered to stay in the office a little late in case we had any issues getting the travel permit and at 5:02 my husband got travel permit from Florida p.o.! They did not comply easily even after the motion was approved, Leah had to go to bat for us and explain why Ohio had the jurisdiction and not Florida. No other attorney was willing to do the work, in fact they lied and blamed the availability of the judge for why they couldn't do it before our flight. Leah and Jensen got it done and had no issue getting into the judges office. They were honest and said they couldn't guarantee anything but they were going to do everything they could in 24hrs. Leah also sent me multiple email updates because she knew I was very stressed not knowing if we were leaving the next day or not, and even when I was emailing her when she said she would let me know if she heard anything....she still replied and never ignored me when most lawyers would be annoyed, she understood. I would highly recommend them and Jensen has the best legal assistant I've ever worked with! Usually I am not happy when an attorney has their legal assistant help me but Leah was not a typical legal assistant and it felt like I was dealing with a top lawyer in Delaware.....because I was! If you need a lawyer Jensen and Laura should be your first and last call!

I was in a car accident and suffered significant injuries. A friend recommended Attorney Jensen and I'm so glad she did. He settled my claim within a short time after I finished treating for my injuries and got me a very fair settlement. He and his staff kep me informed, answered my questions and were compassionate and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Attorney Jensen.

Marianne did an excellent job with our case and was very knowledgable and broke every thing down for us so that we could understand it. And if we didn't she spent the extra time with us to make sure that we did. Very good and professional lawyer.

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Delaware, Ohio?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
