I don't even know where to begin, so I will simply write out facts in a mostly chronical order.
I was lied to during the initial consultation. I was told affirmatively that attorney Marocco would file a complaint for divorce with the primary grounds being adultery (my wife was adulterous for a substantial duration of our marriage). He filed a general canned complaint which didn't even mention adultery. I understand that Ohio is a no-fault state, but future potential partners of my ex need to be aware of her character and I was assured that adultery would be the grounds my complaint would be based upon.
I inquired multiple times regarding this misleading statement and the office ignored every question regarding their failure. Additionally, they filed these documents without ever asking me if I approved.
The office misspelled my own name multiple times in multiple documents. Oddly, they mispell my name multiple ways. It would be a minor error, but it just shows the lack of diligence and effort they exercise.
The office contact I was instructed to remain in contact with, Leah, was either terminated or quit, they didn't tell me for a substantial duration. Because of this, I was left completely in the dark about any developments.
Opposing counsel decided they were going to withhold discovery for around 4 months. My attorney was aware of this, but did absolutely nothing about it. The office only did anything about the withheld discovery material (by sending a letter which once again mispelled my own name) after I let them know it was completely unacceptable and unprofessional to ask me to evaluate a settlement offer from the opposing party when I was in the dark about all aspects of my dishonest, adulterous spouse's assets.
The office charged me hundreds of dollars to forward emails with attachments. They claimed to be 'converting' documents, but they could easily have simply forwarded discovery and I could have taken the seconds it takes an even slighly technologically literate person to convert or view the documents myself. So, at best, this is a demonstration of technological ineptitude (which they charge clients substantial funds for). The state of Ohio requires legal practitioners to remain technologically literate Ohio R. Prof'l. Cond. 1.1 Comment 8, and there is a duty to charge for services honestly. Not a good look.
I informed the office that the opposing party filed with an incorrect address and I was not receiving mail regarding my case. I let them know this very early in their representation. They didn't file to correct it for months. This wouldn't have been a huge issue, because I was paying to be represented by Saia and Piatt, but they also completely failed to update me on any developments in the case.
I was charged for a conversation that apparently occurred between my attorney and my wife's attorney. I simply asked for a summary of the conversation. The office never provided that summary. I honestly don't know if that conversation ever took place.
On a pretrial date, Mr. Marocco decided to not appear at the hearing. Saia and Piatt had no idea where my attorney was. Around 20 minutes later, a covering attorney showed up with the screen name "Michael's iPhone" and it was immediately apparent this guy had just rolled out of bed. His hair was a mess and his wrinkled dress shirt was haphazardly thrown on. He went on to say "I don't know anything about this case, but I agree with everything opposing counsel has said."
Subsequently, I contacted the office and they reiterated that they had no idea where my attorney was. They then tried to cover for their ineptitude by stating that they understood their was coverage and it slipped through the cracks. I was never informed that there would be a covering attorney, nor would I consent to someone who shows up late and agrees with opposing counsel on everything.
The office has a duty to file a pretrial statement, prior to the hearing date. This is very clearly articulated in the local rules of court. Mr. Marrocco never filed this statement.

Had no clue as to the procedures in fighting an OVI citation. He was direct and honest from the start. He felt I had a very good chance of beating an unwarranted charge and laid it on the line the first time I sat down with him. The fees were well worth the outcome. He stuck to his game plan with the facts and discredited unreliable testing. I felt comfortable from the start that he would take care of my case. I am extremely relieved to have this ordeal over with the hiring of Mr. Morrocco.

Mr. Marrocco took my case after my previous attorney dismissed me due to a court ordered monthly stipend that did not include attorney's fees. He was willing to take my case and stand by me even though he had no certainty that I would ever be able to pay him. Mr. Marrocco showed compassion for my situation and enthusiasm for a fair resolution. I highly recommend him and his firm, Saia & Piatt.

I've been fortunate to have Mike Marrocco as my attorney in a recent OVI case. My case had particular complexities as I do not reside in Ohio. Mike did a great job in understanding the implications of every step in the process from arrest to ultimate outcome in both Ohio and my state and provided perfect counsel on the alternatives. Mike also explored many alternative tactics and approaches and the ultimate outcome was phenomenal. Please understand that despite the favorable outcome, I would still recommend him to others for his thoroughness and intelligent approach to alternatives. It also doesn't hurt that he was a former Prosecutor in Delaware County, and obviously has a good rapport with both Judges and current Prosecutors. Thanks Mike for all that you've done - this is tough to write with respect to attorneys, but you're well worth the fees.
