When the world as you've known it falls out from under you and your marriage of over 20 years cannot be saved, the last thing on your mind is the "business" of your marriage. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Judy and her staff for their level of compassion and professionalism throughout this horrible process. I am so glad I had them on my side advocating for me and my 3 boys. Judy and Wendy walked this horrible journey with me and represented me with dignity, For that I am grateful. If you want someone who will fight for you, you want Judy on your side.

I cannot speak highly enough about Judy Galeano and her abilities as my attorney. It was a pleasure and an honor to work with her. The entire experience was beyond exemplary. From the initial contact, it was clear that Judy is a true professional – ethical, experienced, and respectful. There was a high level of knowledge, integrity, and commitment, in addition to moral support. I had such comfort knowing that my case was in excellent hands. I would HIGHLY recommend Judy and her law firm to anyone.

Judith Galeano came highly recommended, and she and her firm exceeded our expectations. She helped us analyze a highly complex pension matter involving my long-term employment with a large central Ohio electric utility. Ms. Galeano and Sean Sheridan helped my wife and me to develop a comprehensive plan of action to redress the injustice we are experiencing. In addition, her firm, Mowery Youell & Galeano were very sensitive to the emotional and financial needs created by this complicated and stressful matter.

My wife and I worked with Jennifer to receive our Green Card after waiting for over than one year. She contacted me and assessed our I-485, and filed a lawsuit within 2 weeks. Our cases were, then approved by USCIS within 9 days. She is an amazing immigration lawyer and I recommend her to anyone who has experienced significant delay in receiving the US permanent residency.

We worked with Jennifer for my husband’s L2 visa administrative processing. We have been waiting for 4 months and due to my job we were in a hurry. After opening the case, it took 58 days for our case to be completed. She was always very responsive. Definitely recommended if you have the budget.

My 7-years old kids and husband’s visa was stuck for 12 months. There was no response from the embassy , even after multiple senators and congressmen contacting them on my behalf. Attn Nimer was kind enough to take up my case and bring it to conclusion. I contacted multiple attn. before her because this was a sensitive case of kids away from their mother but through my conversation with her and multiple great feedbacks it became a no- brainer. She is highly professional, great response time, and mostly importantly a kind human being. I am glad I made the right decision and had her file mandamus lawsuit for AP delay.

I found Richard through the BAR association about 10 years ago for my horrible car accident case. From the first meeting with him, he was great, he reviewed my case with everything in him and explained everything in detail of how the process would go. I think the thing that made me most happy was that the guy that hit me was driving a rental car and the rental car company totally tried to screw me over with the statute of limitations, a weekend, and a holiday; Richard knew the laws immediately and addressed them and told me what would happen. And wouldn't you know, the rental car company rep bold faced lied to me over the phone and if I didn't have Richard hired by then I would've been screwed in the case because of the weekend and holiday and he knew exactly how to handle it and what they would do to try to screw me over. During the negotiations he fought for me left and right and was beyond my expectations in everyway possible with how he talked with me. When it was all said and done, he drove to where I worked during his busy schedule to have me sign some paperwork and give me my check. To this day anyone that has been in an accident I immediately give them his information because I was so pleased with the whole crappy experience that he made so easy and effortless. He knows his stuff and I hope I don't get in another accident, but if I do, I'll always know who I'll go back to.

My son was recently in a motor vehicle accident where he was hit from behind by a driver who fell asleep at the wheel. A co-worker handed me Richard's business card and from that first conversation to the last detail of settlement Richard exceeded our expectations. He actually cares about his client and their well being, we weren't just a pay check for him. Richard always showed the utmost respect and courtesy, as well as extreme knowledge of the requirements to resolve the case. He was very attentive to every status inquiry we made, regardless of how minute a detail it may have been. His assurance of our understanding the situation was if high importance. We definitely feel Richard is the best and would highly reccommend him to anyone in need of a personal injury attorney.

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Dublin, Ohio?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
