Wendy guided me through the bankruptcy process with ease, constantly encouraging me that everything would be okay when she could sense my anxiety. Her positive attitude and her attention to detail made this hardship a breeze! I could not thank Wendy enough for her amount of compassion and professionalism.

Attny Henderhan and Jackie are amazing! They both take their time to ensure you understand the entire process of bankruptcy and that you know what your options are. Attny Henderhan is upfront, honest, and to the point which is what I like the most about her. There is no question unanswered and they both make you feel like you are their only client. They truly do have your best interest at heart and it shows throughout the entire process.

Atty Henderhan took time today to talk to me about an issue I was having with my HOA. She was super informative and helpful and didn’t even charge me. She was honest and gave me great advice. I would recommend her to anyone in need of legal services. Thanks again Atty Henderhan!

I am so impressed with Atty Henderhan and the way she runs her office. It's so easy to make an appt, her assistant (Jackie) called to verify I was ready for my phone appt right on time, and put me right through to this very pleasant, professional, articulate, no-nonsense attorney who answered all my questions within 7 mins. Incredible! Nothing like others I had contacted!

When the world as you've known it falls out from under you and your marriage of over 20 years cannot be saved, the last thing on your mind is the "business" of your marriage. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Judy and her staff for their level of compassion and professionalism throughout this horrible process. I am so glad I had them on my side advocating for me and my 3 boys. Judy and Wendy walked this horrible journey with me and represented me with dignity, For that I am grateful. If you want someone who will fight for you, you want Judy on your side.

I cannot speak highly enough about Judy Galeano and her abilities as my attorney. It was a pleasure and an honor to work with her. The entire experience was beyond exemplary. From the initial contact, it was clear that Judy is a true professional – ethical, experienced, and respectful. There was a high level of knowledge, integrity, and commitment, in addition to moral support. I had such comfort knowing that my case was in excellent hands. I would HIGHLY recommend Judy and her law firm to anyone.

Judith Galeano came highly recommended, and she and her firm exceeded our expectations. She helped us analyze a highly complex pension matter involving my long-term employment with a large central Ohio electric utility. Ms. Galeano and Sean Sheridan helped my wife and me to develop a comprehensive plan of action to redress the injustice we are experiencing. In addition, her firm, Mowery Youell & Galeano were very sensitive to the emotional and financial needs created by this complicated and stressful matter.

James Bownas went above and beyond to help me. I purchased one of the fixed rate deals to go over a contract and during the phone call he was very easy to talk to and was willing to go over the 30 minutes so I could ask all my questions. Not only did he answer all my questions but asked his own questions to better understand the situation. I am so happy I decided to contact him; he saved me money and did it with a smile. I will defiantly contact him again.

Jim helped me understand my options under a land contract. Our family and financial situations had changed significantly since we had entered into the contract. He fully explained things in terms I understood. He was very patient with me and never made me feel rushed. Using the information and recommendations Jim made I was able to reach an agreement with the seller on the contract that was very much in my favor. I appreciate the help.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Dublin, Ohio?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
