Ms. Hall was appointed as a GAL for a custody modification case that my husband's ex wife brought against him. Connie's job was to investigate both parents, and be a representative of the court on behalf of the children, to make a decision on which house they would primarily reside in, and which school they would go to. From the beginning, she was not responsive. We reached out to her several times to schedule our home visit with no reply, yet somehow during that time, she managed to get out to the ex wife's house, who lives an hour and 10 minutes away. When she finally scheduled our visit, she was late with no notification. When she got there, she was friendly and pleasant to talk to. However, she asked to touch my biracial stepdaughters hair. Anyone who is a person of color knows that this demonstrates ignorance and a complete lack of understanding for the experiences of people who do not look like her. We knew from that point on that we had an uphill battle, and that she would never be a true advocate, because she could never understand the dynamics that we, and our biracial children, were having to deal with in this case. That was our last main correspondence with her. She began to correspond only with the ex wife. She gathered references from each parent, yet never contacted any references on my husband's list. She would make phone calls to the ex wife and children, but ONLY while they were with their mother. The ex wife is a MASTER manipulator, and she absolutely had the children eating out of her hand. During our initial court appearance, she stated that the three children preferred to be with dad, but the ex wife manipulated the oldest child to change his mind, and told Connie to call him the day before the hearing. Connie was not able to see through this manipulation, and essentially got played by the ex wife as well. When she came to the hearing, she stated that because the child had changed his mind, she couldn't make a decision about where the children should be, EVEN THOUGH HER WHOLE JOB IS TO MAKE DECISIONS ABOUT WHERE CHILDREN SHOULD BE. Fast forward to the following summer, the oldest child began to have issues, and told his dad that he wanted to live with him. She met with the children after the middle child shared that his mother and stepfather had been yelling at and intimidating the oldest child for changing his mind on where he wanted to live. Connie stated that the oldest child was clearly uncomfortable in that environment and that he was having problems with his stepfather, BUT, she wouldn't change her recommendation for all of the children to stay with their mother. Now mind you, the oldest child was getting bullied, was saying that he didn't fit in, didn't have any friends, was uncomfortable being there, etc, but because he told Connie that he would miss his siblings if he had to be separated, she deemed it best to put him back in that same environment. She recommended that we get him counseling, so we proceed to do that. However, we needed mom's permission per the rules of the old parenting agreement. We reached out to mom several times about this, with no response. We informed our attorney, and Connie, and the attorney asked for Connie's authority for us to take our son to a counselor in our area. Connie never responded, but what she DID do, was reach out to the ex wife and ask if she had enrolled the child in counseling yet. So, from the very beginning, she was always on Team Ex-Wife. But she was unable to be an advocate for one of the children she was supposed to be representing, when he cried out for help. Connie is afraid to make decisions, doesn't investigate fully before making opinions, and is keenly unaware of the dynamics of people of color versus the system, which played a huge role in our case. If you ever have the option of choosing a GAL, and she is mentioned, I would not choose her and ESPECIALLY if you are a person of color. Do yourself a favor, and look elsewhere.

I was referred to Sean’s office and had an absolutely terrific experience during a really terrible time in my life. After losing both of my parents within a 5 month period, I was lost with where to begin to settle their estates. Unfortunately, there was no life insurance to help cover housing expenses so we needed to sell ASAP. Sean partnered with realtor John Saxton, also of Grove City, and together they became such a bright light to guide me through the darkest period of my life. Sean provided selfless expertise and worked extremely hard to finalize the title process of my parents home, which was a complicated matter. I have to shout THANK YOU to Sean for being a fantastic attorney and truly caring about his clients. I highly recommend his services and wish him and his family the best in all future endeavors.

After a family tragedy, we needed someone to help my niece deal with a house sale near Grove City.(I'm in California). From the start, Sean Heffernan was not just a smart, wise professional, but he was also compassionate. He guided us through some very dark hours, and protected my niece, securing an outcome better than what we were expecting. Forever grateful!
