I contracted Joe to handle my divorce proceeding. I married in Massachusetts, shortly after same-sex marriage became legal. Not long after the marriage, we moved to another state that did not acknowledge our marriage. Within a few short years of the move, our relationship ended. We found ourselves without any legal means of separation and those circumstances remained until the summer of 2015. Joe was sensitive to this situation and ended up working as counsel to me and advisor to my former husband. While the actual dissolution of our marriage was fairly straightforward, my former husband and I had not really spoken since our relationship ended. The day of the court proceeding, Joe demonstrated professionalism and compassion to both me and my former husband. I appreciate his dedication, his understanding and his empathy of my situation. I highly recommend Joe's services within the area of family law.

Attorney Lanter did an excellent job for me on my dissolution of marriage case. He was very knowledgeable and handled my case in a very professional manner. He was diligent and kept me informed and updated at every stage of the case. His fees were also quite reasonable. I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking counsel to represent them in a family law matter.

In my opinion, one needs to seek legal counsel/representation in order to rectify a "BAD" situation. The uncertainty, uncomfortability and the unknown makes things even worse. In all my dealings with Attorney Joe Lanter, his staff and firm I never felt in the dark or that they did not have everything under control. All of the "legalese" was explained in easy to understand terms. Attorney Lanter with great attention to detail would explain each step of the entire process taking into consideration both the "pro" and "con" and how the decision making would effect the outcome in both the short term and the long term impact. Joe and his staff would consistently keep me abreast of any developments in regards to my case, communication was excellent and prompt. in other dealings I have had with legal professionals, communication with the client seemed to be secondary. I would highly recommend Attorney Joe Lanter and the Shinn and Lantner firm for any legal dealings. I know that in the future, I will only be making 1 call.

Joe went above and beyond in my case. He was always well-prepared, knowledgeable, organized and a true professional. He helped me to understand when I had no clue, he reassured me when the frustrations of the arduous process felt never-ending. We all know Attorneys are expensive and no one wants to open the yellow pages and take a chance with just anyone they see. Joe Lanter represented me on two occassions and I would recommend his services to anyone in need of counsel. He was professional, courteous, informative, and reasonably priced. In 2012, I retained Joe for my Custody and Support case which settled in 2014 (standard time for these cases). I explained what I was looking to obtain and Joe communicated clearly ALL the scenerios so when things progressed I was not caught off guard and was able to make an informed decision. In addition, my job as a Flight Attendant was unique to most 9am-5pm financial and parenting time guidelines. Joe took the time to understand my life and my childs needs so he could convey them properly to the Court for the best possible outcome. I was awarded sole custody, and the support amount and terms close to what I wanted. In 2015, after my sons Father refused to pay Medical Bills (for our child) clearly outlined in our recent Support Order, I contatced Joe again. He explained all possible scenerios so I could decide for myself whether or not I wished to persue legal action. I retained Joe and he kept me informed throughout the process. On the day of the trial, he was sucessful yet again. The defendant was found guilty of contempt, ordered to pay attorney fees, Medical Bills and copying fees/court costs. Although Joe is qualified to handle multiple areas of law, I have only had to utilize his expertise in the area of Family Law. Should I need counsel again, he will be my choice and will be highly recommended to family and friends.

I was recommended to Joe by another attorney who did not specialize in my case type. Joe is friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable with marital law. He found a solution when no one else could. I am very greatful for his service and highly recommend him to anyone, but especially the lgbt community.
