My experience Andrew Korduba as my legal counsel was excellent. I was changed with multiple misdemeanor offenses in Medina, Ohio, known to be one of the harshest charging and sentencing areas in the State of Ohio. Mr. Korduba particularly excelled in dealing with the Medina Prosecutors Office to reduce the criminal charges, which more accurately aligned with the incident itself. Due to Mr. Korduba's negotiating skill and diligence, I received no jail time and no probation. I can see why he is one of the most well-respected attorneys in Medina, Ohio.

Andy provided a 20 minute free consultation for me and made the most sense of any attorney I've talked with. He was efficient, and got right to the point of what I needed to do next. It involved advising me to retain an attorney in a different state, but he will definitely be the first on my list to call if I need to pursue litigation in Ohio.

I hired Mr. Korduboa in March 2023 to handle a custody case. A custody case involving a child that was not biologically mine, or my husbands that we had had in our care for 2 1/2 years, me and my husband provided for this child financially medically emotionally and physically. Her biological parents who were not together decided that they wanted their child back. biological parents went to court and obtained an emergency, temporary order of custody. When I hired Mr. Korduboa he told me that these cases were very hard to prove. That you needed to prove one thing in four different categories for each parent. He explained to me and my husband, how very hard and emotional this was going to be. he explained to us that this is not done. He explained to me and my husband that courts do not give children who are not yours biologically. He explained to us that we were asking a court to take away a biological parents constitutional rights to raise their child how they see fit . His staff was very helpful and answered any and all the questions me and my husband had. His staff is absolutely wonderful. His secretary literally called us with joy, and to congratulate us on what we had done. Mr. Korduboa obtained legal custody for me and my husband of this child. this had not been done in the surrounding areas in 30 years. In 30 years a court had not granted legal custody of a child to someone other than that child’s biological parents Mr. Kordouba is a bulldog of an attorney. He will fight for you all the way he gave me and my husband the best gift anyone could ever give us. He got us our child back. He got our Child back when it hadn’t been done in 30 years.. I will forever be in his debt.

I was "wrongfully charged" with a crime in Medina Ohio and my Lawyer Andrew Korduba fought the prosecutors to reduce the charge. I only received probation. NO JAIL OR PRISON time. Contacting Andrew was super easy and convenient, he was available 24/7 and always had and answer to my question. However it may not always been the answer I wanted to hear or not. Be he was very honest with me, Not once did he lie to me or sugar coat anything. He was always directed and pointed me the direction I needed to go. He always told me and talked me through what was gonna happen before it happened. I recommend him to anyone. I have used Andrew now on different occasions. Mainly child support. But this particular event is when he really stepped up to the plate and help me out tremendously. Thank you Andrew for everything

Dana is an excellent attorney who showed a quick understanding of my case issues and a great ability to remember detail. She is an effective communicator and treated me well, explaining the aspects of and options for my case, making complex legal issues understandable. I have used several attorneys in the past and immediately noticed a positive difference. I always felt like a priority. Her style is compassionate and responsive. I also enjoyed her sense of humor as going through this case was not always easy for me. I very much recommend her as an attorney.

I never had to ask her what was going on in my case because her communication was great. She even made me a flowchart to explain my complicated legal options. Charges were reasonable and she didn't overbill. It was clear she really cared about my case. I would recommend her for any legal matter, not just animal related.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Medina, Ohio?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
