We consulted with Dan. He is doesn't stop to listen. He jumps to conclusions and even when I tried to course correct he just over talks you. He was going down the totally wrong path. We were more then willing to pay him for his services but he never drew the line on consultation vs hiring. He made me feel as though I was abusing his time and looking for free legal advice. That was not the case. He became very rude. He needs to work on listening to his clients and developing a better transition from consulting. I walked away from the conversation in total disbelief.

We called McGookey Law office when our mortgage servicer started returning our mortgage payments & blocked us from getting a refinance. We did everything we were instructed to do on the CFPB website & the credit counselors on the paperwork provided by Ocwen (5 complaints to the CFPB, contacted the State Attorney General, etc). Dan & Kate stepped in and understood that we were being wrongfully sued for foreclosure. We kept all of the documents & provided it all to our attorneys, this information was crucial in getting Ocwen to admit that the statements sent to us were full of errors, among other things. The staff made us feel at ease and its obvious they work as a team to assist their clients. This case is still ongoing, but we are sure we called the right attorneys to get this wrongful foreclosure matter taken care of. We would recommend this firm to anyone being victimized by their mortgage servicer.

I spoke to Mr. McGookey and actually had to ask him to listen. His assumptions were incorrect and direction was not where I needed it to go.

Mr. McGookey and his team handled ALL communications between PHH Mortgage and myself. PHH had over a period of more than year having me the 'run around' concerning my mortgage after I had gotten behind a couple of payments. One specific thing they had done was take the electricity from my property out of my name and then failed to pay the bill. To this day the house is sitting full of mold. Mr. McGookey and his team were able to get us out from under the house AND is having our credit restored back by having all of the late payments removed back to the original missed payment.

Dan McGookey Law Firm were the upmost professional team that I have dealt with. They were able to assist me in keeping my home from foreclosure and were willing to work with me to understand the process. His staff seem liked they were very detailed orientated and pleasant. I was at the end of the line. I contacted McGookey law. After a consultation, I hired them. At this time my house was up for Sheriff sale. That was stopped. My mortgage company was very subborne. The end result was that McGookey law saved my house and also lowered my payments by 30%. I had tried many other options, but they failed. I was very pleased with them. If you are having trouble with your mortgage, I highly recommend McGookey Law.

This lawyer touts that he is knowledgable about foreclosures when really all he does is take a retainer fee and do nothing. He uses the same boiler plate complaints for the majority of his cases and does nothing to actually help the homeowner. You are better off doing the legal work yourself than hiring this man and his firm. You will for sure have a better chance of keeping it. I'm still seeking over $13,000 in fees returned for work he didn't do. Avoid.
