I first consulted with Mr Shaut then I hired him in Marriage dissolution case . He first acted as a great guy , talking nice with smooth promises. Once Hired , The whole game changed . He ignored my calls in the most important times . While making the marriage dissolution agreement , he just left his Assistant to do the work , and they lost my file information sending me wrong documents and asking for signatures!!!. And whatis even more suspicious comes next!!. when my wife asked me to talk to my lawyer to feel comfortable , I have explain to Mr Shaut that she is up to something suspicious and asked him to be carefull and update me with anything suspisious from her end . Then he ending up talking my Opponent (Wife and her attorney) not only one time as I asked but many times , and he gave them information and agreen light that make it easy and simple for my wife to withdraw almost all the money in our joint bank account instead of making sure that doesnot happen . Even more , he dealt with my wife and her attorney and change the supposed deal in the dissolution agreement for her interest ??!!.Instead of sending me the documents to review first , he sent to my wife ( Even though I am the client and asked not to send her anything before My review first) Even though in my consultation I explained to him a lot that my wife will try to trick him and will try to abuse the agreement . He never advice me of what I should do property, how to protect my money and my rights .He never alert me of her and her attorney's calls to him . My wife with her attorney's and Mr Michael Shaut' s help was able to just take all the money she want before been commited to our agreement ( WHich he never put as I Exlained ) . SHe was able to call him and talk and discuss and get what she wants, and when I called to fix their mistkes ( or probably the deliberately plotting) And I am the client not her!!. He rejected my calls , messages nd even the Notes left to his assistance to quickly retireve the mistakes!! .And when I was trying to talk to him after I lost all my money even before divorce been filed , he finally answer my calls and yelled at me , and said "YOU CAN HIRE ANOTEHR ATTRONEY IF YOU WANT, IT IS NOT MY MISTAKE YOUR WIFE TOOK THE MONEY " . Not sure who was he representing ? Me or my opponent wife ??? He simply used my membership plan to get paid , but he worked effectively for my wife and her attorney . I don't recommend this lawyer at all costs .

I hired Grace to help me with my divorce. Grace is an amazing communicator and quick to respond to any questions. Her ability to respond quickly and her attention to detail helped me get an advantage in court. My ex-wife tried to bully me with threats of not having any custody of my child and Grace was able to help make things fair and put the ball in my court. I was able to attain 50/50 custody which was very important to me. She not only is great with Family Law but she also genuinely cares about her clients. Grace always had my back and it gave me some much needed peace during that difficult time of life. I can't recommend Grace enough. I truly feel God aligned our paths and I will always be so grateful for Grace. Please take my advice and reach out to Grace for a consultation. You won't regret it!

Grace helped me file for dissolution of marriage. Through out the entire process she was always extremely professional and responsive. I do everything via e-mail and it was always easy to contact Grace using e-mail and get a prompt reply. She did a great job of working to explain the different options that were available to me throughout the process. She definitely is the reason why the whole process went as smooth as it did.

Meg helped me with a traffic offense. She greatly facilitated my time at court (got us to the front of the line) and then managed to get my ticket dismissed. There were no court fees or points either.

I give my highest recommendation for Anne Keller. Since the initial consultation, Anne was patient and understanding of my situation. She explained the legal process clearly and answered all questions regarding the specifics of my local prosecutor and local judge. In my case, I was charged with an OVI after an accident with no injuries. Anne took on my case despite complicated and unclear evidence. The situation was made more difficult because the local prosecutor refused to reduce the case under any circumstance. Hence, the case would either result in a conviction or a complete dismissal, no plea bargain. After several pre-trials we went to a motion hearing to suppress the evidence. In this hearing Anne came extremely well prepared and illuminated the many ways in which the police officer did not have probable cause to arrest me. The judge dismissed the case and I was not convicted. Again, I strongly recommend Anne because she will thoroughly look at your case and try and find any possible way to avoid a conviction. Moreover, Anne will be honest about the issues she will raise and will not string you along if she does not believe you have strong issues that can help you avoid a conviction.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Shaker Heights, Ohio?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
