Irene was extremely helpful, thoughtful and truly caring. She was helpful in contacting organizations to find the best fit for my daughters' needs. She was thoughtful in that she found the best solution not only for the girls, but also for their mother and me. She truly demonstrated a caring demeanor and has been there to assist throughout the whole process. If she wasn't a lawyer I'd hire her as a nanny (with all due respect)!

When I came to the sad realization that my marriage was over, I knew I need an attorney to help unravel 50 years of assets, including a business. I had no idea where to turn. I met with several large law firms downtown but left each filling intimidated and overwhelmed. Thankfully, Irene was recommended to me. Within 10 minutes of meeting Irene, I knew she was who I needed. Her patient demeanor and methodical approach helped keep me calm and focused as we worked together step by step towards a settlement. Irene was always available to listen and offered insightful advice, demonstrating her clear understanding of my needs. Irene made an incredibly painful situation bearable. I am so grateful to have her as my attorney. Irene's continued support, even after the divorce was over, has been invaluable. I don't know where I would be without her.

Irene Rinnello represented me in my divorce this past year. She was professional and punctual during the entire process. She was approachable and available for questions, concerns and consultations. Irene is family-oriented and maintains a strong focus with families who have children. She made me, and my ex-husband, feel confident in our decisions and was open to feedback. I highly recommend.

Irene was wonderful to work with and made a difficult time less stressful by being kind enough to walk me through everything in a way that was clear and easy to understand. She was knowledgeable and I trusted her throughout the entire time we worked together. She was prompt to reply to questions and always explained next steps so I was never left in the dark not knowing what came next.

Mr. Mulvaney was extremely pro-active about helping us get justice in our lanlord-tenant dispute. He was very pleasant to work with and made sure to make us feel comfortable about our case even though it was very sensitive for us to talk about. From the get-go he was very upfront and straightforward about how our case was going to work, what we needed to get together for a successful case, and how payment would be handeled. Mr. Mulvaney was very helpful in helping us ammend our answer and counterclaim. He spent numerous hours on the phone with us before meeting us in person in order to take our case. He was very kind, and humble and did not pressure us about payment or our choice in attorney. On the day of our first settlement mediation with our landlord and his attorney we were not expecting what transpired to have transpired what-so-ever. In fact we did not expect to be able to reach an agreement on our first day of mediation. Instead Mr. Mulvaney showed up early, and made sure to inform us (seeing as how this was our first time dealing with a legal battle) of how the mediation would transpire, and what to expect from our landlord and his attorney, as well as some advice on how not to act in this situation. Mr. Mulvaney did not make us feel intimidated or uneasy, but rather confident in our case. He was very kind as magistrates and other lawyers walked by saying hello to each of them and telling us a little about each one and how he knew them. He was extremely humble and courteous. As our landlord's attorney walked in Mr. Mulvaney informed us of who he was, and told us that he was representing our landlord in this mediation. After a short time of going over everything once more with us, he politely walked over to our landlord's attorney, introduced himself and spoke with him about our expectations. Before even entering the mediation chamber he was able to reach an agreement that was better than what we had hoped for with the other party. Mr. Mulvaney kept a very cool, and collected composure with the other party, and stayed firm with our settlement number. He advised us to keep our composure even though we were extremely happy with the outcome while he entered the mediation chamber with the other party to draw up our settlement agreement. Not only did our case not have to go to trial, but we got exactly what we had hoped for, and were able to reach an agreement before even going into mediation. Mr. Mulvaney gave us hope when we were feeling hopeless, and he took such a heavy load of stress off of our shoulders by taking our case and so graciously approaching our concerns. We will be using Mr. Mulvaney again in the future should we have any issues, and will reccommend him to ANYONE in a troubled situation regarding a landlord/tenant dispute. Mr. Mulvaney is a GREAT lawyer, he is easy-going, and easy to talk to, he is humble, and takes his clients' concerns seriously, and most importantly, he got justice for us when we were fearful and hopeless. He turned a very unfortunate situation for us into a wonderful resolve.

I own a 6-unit apartment building and wanted to be very clear on the leases what my rights and responsibilities are and those of the tenants should there be any problem with bedbugs. I was a bit hesitant to see an attorney but I am so glad I contacted Mr. Mulvaney. He has expert knowledge and is very easy to work with. My leases have been revised in a number of areas. Highly recommend for any real estate issues.

Meg helped me with a traffic offense. She greatly facilitated my time at court (got us to the front of the line) and then managed to get my ticket dismissed. There were no court fees or points either.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Shaker Heights, Ohio?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
