Miller Law is the most professional law firm in Ohio. I was in an automobile accident on I71 at the Ashland mile marker enroute to work at 3:30am. An impaired and distracted driver rear-ended my vehicle. My Chevy Tahoe was totaled and I was unable to work for 17 months. I was contacted by numerous law firms from the state of Ohio. I was extremely satisfied with the exceptional service provided by Miller Law. The communication from Brian Miller and Stacey (Paralegal & Administrative Assistant) was outstanding. I was always informed of the case's progress. Brian and Stacey consistently went above and beyond. I was treated like family. I appreciated the smaller firm with an actual office where the client is the primary focus. Brian Miller possesses extraordinary qualities of integrity and honesty. Brian was always transparent and I completely trust him. Upon completion of the case and the settlement was awarded, Brian's experience level was demonstrated and exceeded my expectations. I unquestionably respect and recommend Miller Law. Thank you Brian and Stacey!

I had the pleasure of working with Adam Slone from Miller Law for my personal injury case, and I cannot recommend him and the firm enough! The entire team at Miller Law displayed a client-focused approach that truly set them apart. Adam was excellent in every aspect of handling my case. From the very beginning, he was accessible, honest, and incredibly reliable. Adam's knowledge and expertise in personal injury law were evident, and he navigated my case with skill and diligence. His professionalism and dedication were truly commendable, and I am grateful for the outstanding service he provided.

I’d like to share my extremely positive experience with the Brian Miller law firm. Extremely professional, personal and informative. I was always kept in the loop of what was happening and what to expect. Let me provide a quick overview and context. My residence is in Charleston, South Carolina where I own a catering company and travel back to the family farm in northern Ohio several times a year to plant and harvest the crops. On the way to the farm science review in 2021, a truck ran a stop sign and my niece and I hit it broadside. I was transported to Marysville Hospital , and transferred to Ohio State University Hospitall. I had multiple compression fractures to my spine, a broken sternum and other minor injuries. For three months, I was unable to help on the farm or in the catering business. I was accumulating large medical bills and hiring multiple people to help cover my workload on the farm and in the catering business. With no insurance companies, stepping forward to help offset medical and other expenses I begin to look for lawyers. The large corporate cookie-cutter firms gave me their standard sales pitch of big promises while feeling very impersonal. Brian on the other hand, seemed personally interested, took time to listen and explain the process. He gave me realistic possibilities to recoup my expenses. Throughout the process, Brian and Stacey kept me informed helped me work through questions and items for which I did not have the answer. Living out of state during Covid resented special problems for which Brian and his staff handled seamlessly. They worked with insurance companies to reduce the charges and with insurance companies to get payment. In the end, Brian was able to get a six-figure settlement, for which I was extremely pleased and surprised. Brian and his staff are extremely client focused and trustworthy.

My daughter was in an automobile accident that resulted in injuries leading up to a significant amount of medical bills, a totaled vehicle, and missing out on sports and other activities her senior year of high school. Brian G. Miller's law firm and associates did a wonderful job representing my daughter to fight for compensation of medical expenses and all that was lost. Adam kept us informed of the status, stayed on top of everything, and fought to provide us with the maximum compensation amount. Stacey, the Administrative Assistant was always friendly, warm and welcoming. She also kept us informed of the latest and helped manage all the information she needed to stay on top of the medical bills. I highly recommend this law firm.

I was terrified to have to seek out a divorce lawyer. This guy is one of a kind. He doesn't treat you like the loser you feel like. He really cares and works diligently to help you get what you're entitled to. He's not cheap----but you will soon realize you are paying for top notch legal care and he actually seems to care about your case. He is so down to earth that when i first met him and he introduced himself as bob while shredding paper, i thought he was like an office helper. This guy will fight for you--and he will tell you straight up what's right and what's wrong.. Literally everything he predicted would happen with my case has happened almost to the dollar. And he handles crazy cases like same sex marriage and fights for the underdog. He also is not focused on payment; he literally undercharged me a couple of times that I wrote him long emails rambling on. I don't trust anyone but this guy is something special. anyone that can deal with the stress of divorce and how it devastates some of us is amazing. He tells it like it is.

Both Kelly and Bob provided patience an d empathy beyond the wisdom of their experience. Divorce isn't what any of us expect. Bob and Kellt were by my side each step of the way. And there were no surprises when it came time to pay the bill. This is a firm you can trust.

My parents have been clients of, and friends with, Mr. De Board since we moved to Columbus back in the late '70's. Great attention and no fluff. He is a great attorney for probate matters and his staff is very professional. Highly recommend this firm.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Worthington, Ohio?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
