Pros
1
Knowledgeable, experienced, and skilled attorney who is passionate about fighting for her clients
“Allison is a great, experienced attorney and counselor. Keep in mind that as I say this I ended up paying most all of what my ex felt entitled to and I settled in mediation. However, my decisions were informed with a clear understanding of how the divorce and mediation process works.”
2
Compassionate, empathetic, and caring attorney who provides emotional support to clients during difficult times
“Allison's calm and empathetic demeanor has offered emotional succor during some of the most difficult times in mine and my children's lives.”
3
Transparent, honest, and upfront in her communication with clients
“If you want an attorney who will tell you the truth, call Allison. I highly recommend her. Allison is very professional, knowledgeable in what she does. She listened to my case carefully. She took her time to explain things to me in a way no other attorney has. She was straightforward with me, a very good listener.”
4
Reasonable and fair in her pricing and billing practices
“As far as my experience with her goes, it was a very good one. đź‘Ťđź‘Ťđź‘Ť Allison's rates are very very very reasonable. Especially when you look at how experienced she is.”
5
Responsive, accessible, and dedicated to her clients
“Allison was extremely helpful and explained everything to me very thoroughly! I would highly recommend her to anyone. Took time on a weekend to visit with me and very negotiable with prices!”
Cons
1
Some clients felt that Allison's representation did not achieve the desired outcome or did not adequately protect their interests
“My wife and I consulted Allison during the adoption of our son. [...] Part of the process involved the termination of parental rights for the absent biological father, adoption by step-parent, and filing a new birth certificate that lists our son's new surname and us as his official parents. Allison's counseling of us through each step and obstacle that we faced, eased our confusion and lessened the stress and questions involved for an otherwise insurmountable task. Her guidance and perseverance turned our struggles and lack of knowledge into a successful adoption; this life event has empowered us and made it possible to move forward into the next step of our lives as an even stronger family.”
2
A few clients had negative experiences with Allison's communication, organization, and attention to detail
“My husband and I had the worst experience with this attorney. She was unorganized and couldn't remember our case from meeting to meeting. We were charged an obscene amount of money for a modification we ended up dropping. She helped the respondent more than she ever helped us.”

Allison is simply amazing. I cry every time I think about her and how she cared for me and my babies during the roughest and scariest season of my life. I truly believe that Allison is God anointed. There was never one second that I doubted her ability or expertise. She provided such an honest and safe space for me during my darkest moments. It’s really hard to put into words the impact she made. She truly has a gift and I’ll never be able to thank her enough. She has a calm, honest and compassionate stance regarding law. Allison please know I will never forget your love, kindness and support. My babies are here thriving because of you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I HIGHLY recommend Allison! She truly is a godsend! From the moment I met with Allison I was terrified/scared to proceed on with a divorce with the father of my 2 children. It was rough Allison honesty gave me a backbone the whole way through. She helped me navigate everything and was always available to answer any questions I had. She truly got me through one of the most difficult seasons of my life and for that I am extremely grateful. And after 5 years for back and forth yesterday we FINALIZED MY DIVORCE! I was so happy I cried tears of joy! Allison has truly helped me grow into a better woman even when I would buck her suggestions and guidance she stuck through with me. I can’t thank this woman and her office staff enough for helping me through this part of my life and communicating with me like they did. I will always recommend her if you want someone to fight in your corner!

I would like to start by sharing the beginning of my journey that led me to choose Allison as my attorney. When I was searching for legal representation and contacting various offices, my experience with Allison’s office stood out. From the moment I was greeted by one of her office assistants, I felt an immediate sense of compassion and professionalism. The assistant was exceptionally kind, friendly, and understanding. She provided immense comfort over the phone, making me feel heard and addressing my fears and concerns with genuine empathy. I concluded the call by scheduling a consultation, and from that point on, my interactions with the office assistants have been nothing short of exceptional. I cannot commend these women enough for their support and the reassurance they provided me and my family during this time. Meeting Allison was equally remarkable. She is an extraordinary, strong, and empowering attorney who helped me discover my own strength, confidence, and resilience. Allison is honest, straightforward, and sincere. She provides clear, unvarnished advice and stood steadfastly by my side, helping me find my voice and becoming my strongest advocate. Her patience, discipline, and direct approach ensured that every time I sought counsel, I felt guided, informed, and confident in making the best decisions for myself and my children. I am deeply grateful for her expertise and unwavering support, and I wholeheartedly recommend her law firm to anyone in need of outstanding legal representation. ❤️

Jeff helped me file my past tax return and as a result I was able to avoid further penalties. Not only was he instrumental in mitigating penalties, he was able to set up a payment plan that I could manage. If you want a tax attorney who can deliver results, I recommend Jeff Trevillion.

I was in so deep with IRS by the time I reached out to Mr. Jeff Trevillion that I was a wreck. I thought I could handle the situation but they were pretty brutal. I met with Mr. Trevillion and by the time I left his office I knew I was in good hands. He is a fighter and he knows how to win. Do not try to handle IRS on your own and do not throw your money away with the hungry lawyers on tv and mail ads....call Mr. Trevillion and get some sleep!

Mr. Trevillion is AMAZING! Before he took my case, I literally thought I would never get beyond the dreaded past taxes left to me from my ex-husband. I was constantly carrying around that burden. Mr. Trevillion jumped into my case and battled the IRS and got me right out of the hole with them! I absolutely could have not asked for better representation! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!

Sarah has helped my husband and I navigate the estate planning and business continuity process for years now! We had a basic will created before we got married. I learned that a basic will in fact would not kick into motion the things we want to be prepared for. Thank you, Sarah, and team Legatum!

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the expected timeline for my case?

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
