Michelle has been my lawyer now for 2 years with an ongoing family issue and has been fantastic. She is one of the best locally and is honest and fair with her clients. I will use her again, when the time comes. If you need a family lawyer I would highly suggest Michelle. She will tell you straight up what is required and what your odds are.

You have found the perfect attorney! I was grateful to have Michelle in my life during my recent court cases. She went above and beyond, gave me her personal cell phone number, was ALWAYS available, quick to respond, compassionate- non judgemental. When you are looking for an attorney it can be the most stressful, emotional, and fearful time of your life. Michelle is wonderful at easing your worries and tension- communicating with the other party to lesson drama, and work towards winning your case with professionalism and honesty. Excellent choice my friends :)

I felt so discouraged when it came to my custody case, attorney after attorney had let me down. Everything has turned around since I hired Michelle.I have been going through his custody case for almost 3 years and in just less than a year the case has done a complete 180. She was definitely a God sent and I am forever grateful to her. She has AWESOME!!!! She's tough and she doesn't let any one run over her!

I paid Michelle Roller $1,500 to represent me in a child support case in 2016. She talked really good on how she would represent me but after paying/hiring her she did not make one motion into court nor made any submittal. She wrote/typed up one paper which conflicted with what she and I had initially discussed. So that paper was never returned back to her for processing since it was contrary thus I never got notarized. I told her about the contradiction and she claimed that she would redo it but I end up firing her. Once wks/months kept passing of the time Ms.Roller would say she would have the paper wk ready but no hear from her, I would call to question her lies and how come nothing had been filed/written-typed concerning my defense, she would than say she had been very busy. My case went on for several months with no action by her as my defense attorney so I got fed up of her lies and fired her, requesting for my refund. And I had even went to the bar association with my complaint and even presented to them proof of her lies to try to justify her refusal to refund me. Tape recordings and court documentation(which she didn't have anything on file due to her never doing anything on my case officially) don't lie nevertheless that part of the bar association refused to honor my request since I was bringing a claim against an attorney whom help support the foundation of their platform. WELCOME TO POLITICS!!!!But there is a God in heaven whom will bring judgement on Michelle Roller for her stealing my $1,500 bcse she sure didn't earn it as well as on those at the bar association whom let her get a way with that. I will continue to post the truth of public figures like Michelle Roller whom use their position unjustly while getting wages. The attorney I had hired from other law firm did a wonderful job in representing that same case I had paid Ms. Roller to do.

My siblings and I had the pleasure of working with James Thiessen with our parents estate and subsequent probate. Not only did he provide excellent service but he maintained regular contact and answered all of our questions throughout the process. I felt confident with his handling of our case and his legal expertise. I would highly recommend this office for any probate and/or estate needs.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
