They were very easy to work with and made sure I understood everything that was happening and were there for any questions I had every step of the way. They made it an easy process.

Edit: During my initial consultation I was misled and led entirely to believe that the debt was all included. I was told of a total amount of my debt and pitched the sales pitch of “it will all be wiped away.” I understand the damage control here on “trained staff.” The fact is you completely misled me and my family. I’ll do whatever I need to do to inform others of this and the unfortunate aspect of the shotty process at best. No you didn’t resolve my chapter 7. I was better off never filing with you or filing to begin with. The debt has remained on my credit and your husband chose to “break the news” strategically after the meeting with the creditors outside the building. I went through a very difficult time in 2018 - I was referred to this law firm and went in with no idea or understanding. I did as much self research - expecting to be further educated. I paid the $1000 retaining fee and my credit was run - I initially met with Roberta and was explained by her my debt with student loans and IRS debt. I was told this would be included in a chapter 7. I needed to unfortunately wait at that time to pay and ended up saving enough to do so. Flash forward to the read and sign. I was introduced to her son Jack who was on some sort of internship if my memory serves me well there. I was again assured by Jack that the student loans and IRS debt would be included. Flash forward to the meeting with the creditors. I met with her husband Mark. Immediately upon the meeting I was informed the student loans and irs debt were not included and he was not sure where or why I was told that. I was taken back and left speechless. I have gone through so much pain and suffering since then. I was told by Roberta don’t worry in 2 years you’ll be able to buy a home with this fresh start. My wife and I found a home and she was primary since she had great credit. I was co we had our offer accepted only for the deal to fall through because of student loan debt. And other derogatory items on my credit. One in particular was an auto loan which was listed as and has stayed as in collections. They never sent a notice of bankruptcy not even to the student loan companies. My credit has remain destroyed since. I pray that no one else is dealing with this mess that’s left and I pray that there is someway to fix this. What a mistake I made coming here.

Leslie is a honest, fair, and thorough attorney. She thinks way ahead and she is always prepared. I cannot say enough great things about her. Leslie works extremely hard and will take on a challenge, even when the odds of winning the case are against her. She will read and research the laws and case laws until she wins the case. Leslie charges a fair fee and does not over charge. She is excellent when it comes to writing legal documents that need to be filed in court. I recommend this lawyer for family law.

I'm self employed in construction (a combination the IRS finds exceptionally nefarious apparently) and during the first phone interview I had with my auditor I was accused of hoarding cash under the mattress. Without any substantiation, she decided I had a $100,000 tax bill. She was rude, demanding and hostile. After a handful of sleepless nights, I hired Cliff Ribner. I read the first letter he sent to the auditor and knew I had hired the best! My initial tax burden of $106,000 turned into a couple thousand dollars. He's a great attorney.

I retained Shane Henry and he was upfront from the beginning and did not sugar coat expectations and cost. Communication was amazing with him and Amy their paralegal. They work very quickly and you see all communication with opposing counsel which I did not get from the attorney I had prior to retaining him. I got everything I wanted and I owe that to good counsel. I was able to get full custody which was best for my child. It was amazing. If I have to go back to court in the future, I will retain Shane. You will not regret going with Shane! If you are unsure, read the google reviews and do a consult. You will get exceptional service.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
