For almost three years Lorena represented me in a custody battle that included a FAPA order. There is a lot of back and forth that happens throughout the years, and Lorena kept matters lawful and to the point. Her knowledge around domestic abuse, the law and keeping children first always kept me at ease. She is kind and well spoken. There is no doubt Lorena knows her stuff!! When it finally came down to going in front of the court, Lorena did not disappoint. Everything she had said throughout the years. What we worked towards. Came together masterfully when she spoke. Also, her legal assistant, Bre is lovely to work with. She is also helpful, knowledgeable and to the point. No one is wasting time or money at Reynolds Law Firm. It was an honor to have them on my side through an emotional-stressful time. I’ll forever be grateful.

My Family Law case was more complex than average. I needed to look for new Counsel in the middle of my case. Lorena was a life saver when should took mine. She was compassionate, uber organized, and highly effective in the courtroom. She well outperformed my Ex's confident attorney. The settlement was more than I could have hoped; allowing me to move to a more secure place to raise my kiddos. We have a wonderful life to look forward to. Reynold Law saved my soul.

Lorena has helped me during two court appearances which were high conflict custody cases. She is an absolute bulldog of a lawyer who is going to direct you in order to build a solid case. She is very knowledgeable, and has her team bring up relevant evidence in order to support you. I have been very happy to have her represent me and will continue to seek her for legal advice, and representation.

Lorena Reynolds represented me in my custody case. It was complicated in that there was also a criminal case against the children’s father. Lorena worked tirelessly on the custody case all the while taking into account the pending criminal case. While representing me she always put the interest of the children first, which was so important to me. She was very patient with me and kept me informed about the workings of the case. When I was discouraged about the proceedings she gave me hope and helped me to see how the case was going to be resolved. Everyone at the Reynolds law firm that I worked with was so supportive and helpful. They gave me confidence that things would be resolved in a way that would favor the children and me. If you are looking for a compassionate, competent, professional, law firm that will tirelessly be your advocate, I would highly Lorena Reynolds and the Reynolds law firm.

Mr. Dezzani is an outstanding attorney. He took over our very complex trust settlement case from his colleague when it reached the point where it needed to be litigated. At every step of the way he was patient, thoughtful, responsive, extremely professional and very, very skilled. Our case was complex and difficult and lengthy and at every turn we trusted him completely. Because of his experience, the outcome was better than we had imagined and we give all the credit to Mr. Dezzani.

"Nico" is THE MOST competent attorney I have had the distinct pleasure of working with. He has represented me in cases where I knew I was bound to lose; NOT because I was guilty. He listened to my concerns, worked with my angers and frustrations, and knowledgeably represented me to his fullest capacity! I would recommend using Mr. Ortiz to anyone who knows they are INNOCENT, yet fears they may be misjudged anyday!

I had a small claims suit that the defendant turned into an official lawsuit, Heart of the Valley was very helpful in getting me the money, we/he also go 2x what I was asking for so that he could get the 50% contingency. I was fine with that. I just recently asked him if he would help me with another issue that just happened. I was asked to pay a $95 consultation fee. I have a personal injury issue and am not able to pay that. Although Heart of the Valley is good/great I am sad to say that the poorer people aren't going to have the benefit of his representation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Corvallis, Oregon?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
