I have just recently finished up a near 2 year long probate and estate case. The case was settled satisfactorily and happy to be finished. This was a long process and have some comments and concerns with choosing Mr. Wasley as my attorney.
The Good:
Mr. Wasley is knowledgeable and effective.
He is responsive in his communication.
The Challenges:
Mr. Wasley counseled without Empathy.
At no time did I ever feel like he cared about my case or myself. I certainly do not need hand holding, however it was quite clear I was just a number not a name. When you have lost your parent and need to go through this process, you expect some level of concern.
I felt that many questions or comments I had were bothersome to him. I would think that with how much you have to pay an attorney, that he would welcome questions. I felt inside that I need to apologize for asking a question.
I should have retained another attorney, but by the time I realized how it would go, I was already heavily invested.
At the time of retaining an attorney, I had quite a hard time finding one available.
My suggestion is that if you are in a position where you need an attorney that is somewhat friendly, personable, and empathetic, you should be careful in hiring Mr. Wasley.

I was referred to this attorney by the Oregon State BAR. When my call was returned, I was told that the attorney was unable to schedule for the next 3 weeks, understandable. However, my concern was approaching the 1 year mark, so I asked if she could find out if I was with-in the statue of limitations, considering waiting 3 weeks to speak with an attorney may jeopardize this. The assistant was rude and hostile and unwilling to assist my one basic question. Hard to rate the attorney when you can't get past the rude receptionist.

I paid just a small 100.00 for a consult fee for Mr. Wasley. I felt that was very reasonable. My case is minor and I've stated that to his assistant. She was AWESOME by the way. However I'm out money and time. I work hard for my money like everyone else does. I expect nothing for free, and I don't expect anything handed to me. But I do expect some kindness. What Mr. Wasley doesn't know and couldn't know is that I've had a severe brain injury. So the way I process information is by repeating it by paraphrasing. This is to insure that I have a full understanding of what is being said. This might be frustrating for some. But I'm doing the best that I can. I literally only contacted him so I would have an understanding of my options, if any, and that way I'd be able to make some decisions moving forward. It has been very stressful for me and my family and I didn't know what else to do other than get my legal options. Mr. Wasley did give me those, but the way he went about it wasn't very kind. Between rude sarcasm and some rather rude statements. "It's not like this is a million dollar pot" was one statement. Well yes I get that, I'm not stupid. I've said that. But it's still my hard earned money I'm discussing. And that was rude. Very rude. Another, "Do you want me to say it another way so you understand it". Along with the tone attached, I felt very spoken down to. I can't help how I process things. I even stated I'm just trying to make sure I have an understanding. If I'm paying you for a few moments of your time sir, I don't think it's out of the question to expect a little patience and some kindness. A simple statement like, yes I'm sorry but this is all you have for options would go a long way. Or I know that it must be difficult/frustrating/defeating. Whatever. It would have made me feel a little more important and valued than gum on your shoe. So I guess you get the rating for delivering what I paid for which was options. You don't make the laws, so the lack of options is not your fault. However how you speak to people and present yourself matters. Maybe not to you, but maybe someone else won't go into it with you expecting any empathy. Not sympathy. Empathy. There's a difference. But don't expect any of it from this guy. I have worked with some very unsavory people in my line of work. And I've never treated someone like their concerns, no matter how small, did not matter. I've never treated someone like they were stupid or unworthy. Apparently that is how you do business. Take it as constructive criticism. And maybe you'll think about how you say things to people in the future. Maybe you don't care and you'll go on as usual. But your delivery hurt my feelings enough to leave this review.

SO I HIRED MR. WASLEY FOR 3 DIFFERENT CASES. HE GAVE ME A DOLLAR AMOUNT TO SETTLE ONE OF THEM AND I ASKED IF WE NEEDED A NEW CONTRACT. HE SAID NO - HE WOULD HONOR WHAT HE SAID - THEN 3 HOURS LATER CALLED ME TO SAY HE NEEDED 8000 MORE! CROOKED AS CAN BE!
THEN I HAD 2 OTHER CASES. WHEN MR WASLEY MOVED - I OWED HIM NOTHING. I TOLD HIM I WOULD RELEASE HIM FROM WORKING ON THEM. THEN 5 YEARS LATER - HE TURNS ME IN FOR COLLECTION ON CASES HE SHOULDN'T HAVE WORKED ON. ONE WAS A BURGLARY. HE SAID IF HE GOT ME THE $59000 REMAINING HE WOULD CONTACT ME. HE NEVER DID - SO I ASSUMED HE DROPPED AS I ASKED HIM TO DO. IF HE GOT THE MONEY - HE SHOULD HAVE PAID HIMSELF HIS FEE AND SENT ME THE REST - INSTEAD, HE NEVER SENT ME ANYTHING BUT PER HIS RECORDS CONTINUED TO WORK ON THE CASE AND BILL ME FOR IT! NOW I HAVE A COLLECTION MESS TO CLEAN UP THAT HE ILLEGALLY BILLED ME FOR. I WILL MAKE A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE BAR ASSOCIATION. HE CHANGED ONCE HE MOVED OUT OF LA GRANDE!
