My 17 year old daughter was represented by David in a claim from an auto accident. At our initial meeting, we were told any settlement proceeds would be at the discretion of her parents as she was under 18, signed paperwork to this effect. After the settlement paperwork was completed and I had signed everything off, we were told her share would be ready in 7 - 10 days. Time frame came and went. No word. Got a hold of them again, they said they were keeping her money till she was 18. No letters to this effect, no paperwork to this effect, nothing. They said she could have the money if we could prove she had her own account. She does, sent that to them. They said they would wire the money. Instead they sent the money to the bank with a letter stating she was not to have access till 18. No copies of this were sent to us again! The way they handled this was extremely dishonest and incompetent I don't have an issue with this if it is law, but they could have told us this information at some point and chose to say nothing until after they were questioned because they refused to release the money.
