He doesn’t seem to actually care about what he is doing. Just going through the motions. While letting families be torn apart. Needs some education on parental alienation.

Judge Kochlacs is not a fair judge at all. I am a veteran doctor with a clean record and I feel discriminated against for being a non-white father. The other party lied, cheated, physically assaulted me, and connived against me with her family, and effectively manipulated this judge into doing their bidding. I held on to love and forgiveness as I tried to salvage my family when they held on to hate and greed. Let the record show that I never wanted this, and I will always love my kids, even if they were wrongfully taken away to another state against my will. But awarding my ex 2 years of spousal support (especially after I've already supported her for the past 1.5 years since she abandoned me and she continues to choose to not work as she lives with her parents) plus full custody and $20,000 I don't have was manipulation and discrimination, not justice. Also, allowing last-second made-up exhibits to be submitted the day of court without giving me any chance to refute the false claims should not be legal. You should feel ashamed of yourself Judge Kochlacs. You sir, are a bad judge.

I was appointed this lawyer in my case back in 1997 and he fell asleep, did not present any evidence and never objected to the DA’s overly exaggeration of facts costing me 25 years of my life

Pros
1
Experienced and knowledgeable attorney who provides effective legal counsel
“Sinc”
2
Able to obtain fair and equitable outcomes for clients
“Charles provided legal counsel to me during my divorce and with child custody issues. He was thoughtful, responsive and available during a very difficult and confusing time. I felt like Charles was able to obtain a fair and equitable divorce settlement and helped me preserve significant visitation time with my children despite my hectic work schedule with required out of town travel.”
Cons
1
Accused of being biased and not acting in the best interests of clients
“He does not help his clients, he works against them. He uses and tampers with evidence to help the prosecution. I am curious is to how he does not have a complaint filed against him already.”
2
Alleged to be incompetent and unresponsive to clients' needs
“It was a complete waste of time. I was so disappointed. He barely listened and kept answering his phone. He had no real answers to any of my questions. Seemed incompetent and unreliable.”
3
Accused of failing to properly represent clients in court
“My Brother was rail roaded by CPS and he was appointed Charles for his attorney. This guy SUCKS. He didn't DO ANYTHING. My brother and I got all the evidence and non of it was used, he didn't even speak when we went to court and now my niece has to go live with her " mother " that hasn't wanted anything to do with her for the past 10 years because CPS thinks this is what's best for her and this attorney may as well have been working with them for all he DIDNT DO.”

Justina Lara went above and beyond in representing me during one of the hardest times in my life. Not only did she put in maximum effort preparing my defense, but she also showed genuine care by helping me stay in contact with my family while I was in jail, which meant the world to me. Her attention to detail and commitment to my case were outstanding. She made sure I understood every step of the process and fought tirelessly for the best outcome. I’m incredibly grateful for her support and highly recommend her to anyone in need of a dedicated and compassionate attorney.

My family encouraged me to file for Social Security Disability, I kept putting it off because I didn't feel good and felt overwhelmed when I would log on to the SSDI site to start a claim. I stopped by Roger Ousey's office after a doctor appointment one day. Cheryl Ousey met with me right away, then looked up my information and pointed out I only had about a month to get it started before I missed a time frame to file! So I went home and filled out by hand many pages to file, and turned those over with an immense pile of doctor reports, test results, etc. - and they inputted all of those for me. Roger Ousey kept me informed along the way - and he or his staff were always there to answer any questions for me - no matter how trivial. Their work ethic is above and beyond - especially taking on a case without knowing for certain I would receive benefits - and they would then get paid. When my court date finally came up - Mr. Ousey was with me - as he had been all through the long process of waiting to get to court. And I was so pleased that I received my benefits!

When you hire an attorney you hope to find someone who is on your side and will do everything possible to win your case. Roger Ousey was recommended to me by a friend and I am happy to say that he met and exceeded my expectations. Even though it was a long and arduous journey to finally get to a hearing for disability, he kept me informed and told me what to expect along the way. He is very knowledgeable in matters of applying for disability and I am very pleased with the outcome. I couldn't have done it without his help and expertise.

Keith has been a shining star on a dark night, and I do not offer this praise lightly. His deep understanding of the law and laser guided advice helped us navigate the most troubling event of our lives. My wife and I both have Master’s degrees, taught for twenty years and had worked very hard to build our future. When tragedy struck we found ourselves in need of a skill set beyond our capabilities. Keith was more helpful than this review can adequately express. Look no further for your council.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Medford, Oregon?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
