Choosing an attorney can be a difficult process. As I had previously worked for 20 years as a police officer, FBI task force officer, and corporate investigator, I’ve interacted with many lawyers. I wanted a lawyer that I knew would always be honest with me, care about my case, give me realistic expectations, and had a reputation for being fantastic at trial. The case got close to settling prior to trial, but the opposing team of lawyers took unreasonable positions and my attorney advised me that trial was my best option. Although a trial is stressful, time consuming, and nerve racking, I had complete confidence that Ben, David, Andrew and Joel had thought about every angle for my case from evidence review/preparation, trial strategy, and legal motions. They asked important questions, met with witnesses, selected and reviewed evidence, and worked tirelessly on my behalf. I had heard about Ben’s reputation as one of the best trial lawyers in the State of Oregon with an impressive track record. He proved it in my trial. What struck me was how calm and controlled he is in the courtroom. Things got very heated with opposing counsel, yet he remained composed and professional in his interactions as he was representing solely my interests. His style reminds me of the type of lawyer you see in the movies where jurors are captivated by his natural delivery and questioning of witnesses that follow his carefully planned strategy of eliciting the truth. His word choice is excellent, speech pattern is fluid/relatable, he doesn’t use notes when he speaks to witnesses or jurors, reacts to what each witness is saying and keeps the jurors’ focus on what is important so they aren’t confused. I’m still amazed at how relaxed, confident and authentic Ben was in every stage of the trial and how he was able to relatable to everyone, from possible jurors during the selection process to witnesses. I already knew that the lawyers at Thuemmel Uhle and Eder were wonderful people with great admiration by other lawyers, but I didn’t realize when I hired them how good really great lawyers are. It’s tough to put full confidence in a lawyer or lawyers, but my lawyers came through for me. Trust their process because they are incredibly knowledgeable. If you have been hurt in a car accident, I highly recommend this entire firm.

I was rear ended in a motor vehicle accident in December of 2021 and suffered a neck injury. I tried months of physical therapy and eventually connected with Joel Sturm and TUE. I can not even begin to describe the level of effort and concern they put into my case. Joel was present at doctors appointments, he constantly checked on me. The thing he said over and over was "Let's get it fixed, we can worry about other stuff later." The decision to eventually undergo surgery was left to me, and what I thought was best with the advice of the doctors. There was no talk of money and no pressure to settle the claim quickly. It eventually concluded in November of 2023. When it came time to take care of things Joel did an AMAZING job. I just stayed out of his way and let him use his expertise. When he called me to tell me what the settlement was, I didn't believe him. I thought he was pulling my leg. I made him repeat it three times. The job that Joel and TUE did was incredible. I wish the accident had not happened because of the pain and suffering that it caused. Even with physical rehab and surgery I am going to have some soreness and stiffness in my neck for the rest of my life, but because of the accident I met Joel and I am so grateful to him because he worked so hard to represent me and my interests. It was a blessing that I got connected with Joel and TUE.

The worst experience with a lawyer I've ever had

We were referred to Ben & David from a friend that highly recommend their firm. We are so glad we followed our friend's advice! A year and a half ago, I was hit by a car while crossing the street at an intersection. In shock, I was taken to the emergency room, where it was determined that I'd sustained a concussion and significant damage to my neck and hip. The following day, while I was still in shock and concussed, I began receiving calls from the insurance company of the driver. Their concern for my well-being sounded genuine, but thankfully, a friend suggested i contact a lawyer. David Eder was phenomenal right out of the gate. He immediately stepped in as my biggest, most outspoken advocate, and continues to be to this day. He placed himself between me and the insurance companies, hospital administration, and even my employer. He allowed me to focus on what I needed most; rest and recovery. After my car accident when I was rear-ended, I needed someone to advocate for me and guide me through the process. David Eder provided excellent advice and direction.
