Matthew J Steven successfully defended my daughter from many trumped-up charges. He went above and beyond what was required in her case. He wrote a brilliant, subtly worded brief that made it abundantly clear to the judge that 1) my daughter's accuser should have been able to obtain workman's compensation for her injury if she had genuinely been injured, 2) that the accuser was running up unnecessary expenditures (cosmetic and holistic in nature, rather than medically necessary), and 3) that my daughter, who was in quite a paranoid (unmedicated) state at the time of the incident, was unaware of her actions and meant no harm. In the end, my daughter had to pay only $600, rather than the 5-figure number requested. All the while, Matthew was incredibly respectful and helpful to both of us. I cannot imagine a better defense attorney. He made the whole, painful experience infinitely less painful than it would have been without his help.
