I contacted Mr. Pickard in response to my landlord's apparent violation of ORS 90.485 (restrictions on landlord removal of vehicle). I chose to communicate by email because I assumed he was a busy man with a tight schedule. He did, in fact, respond promptly. In fact, he responded to my second message rather late at night, so I think we can also assume that he is either a night owl or pretty damn dedicated. I therefore cannot support any review that characterizes him as "unresponsive". We were in the process of scheduling a phone call when I unexpectedly received a letter from my landlord offering to settle the case for my out-of-pocket expenses. Absent that letter, I think it likely that I would have retained his services. He struck me as straightforward and he took the time to briefly review my side of the story without charge. I don't think you can ask any more of an attorney up front and you can bet that if my landlord acts up in the future, Mr. Pickard will be the first person I turn to.

I was genuinely disappointed with what I received vs. the reviews. I paid $350 for a consultation but the information I received was nowhere near the price I dropped.
The information I received is what I could have learned myself just by going through it online.
On top of that he listened to the opposing sides opinion of me before even speaking to me for the first time, therefore he gave me a severely skewed opinion stating I would lose.
After paying $350.00 the contract and terms told me to express to anyone that he was my lawyer- but he seemed irritated that i communicated that, so if that is the case it should not be advised in the contract after paying $350.00 to prevent misunderstandings.
And because he was easily persuaded by the opposing party he didn't even focus on the correct case number that i had against them , which I originally paid for.
we never got to speak about how the case was more complex than he was leading because he was basically speed running through the case, impressive because I don't think we even had a full hour.
Well, I did win my case with what my desired outcome was and i did it all without the help of this guy.
It's disappointing to know that a lawyer can be easily persuaded into not giving you the time of day because they are so comfortable with what they do that its just routine.
I will say that he is educated in what he does but did not do his best in understanding the case as a whole and only understood the case for what the opposing lawyer specifically told him before speaking or reviewing any information with me.

We were grateful that Troy took our case on contingency and won against an idiot landlord. Yes communication can be up and down with Troy but giving a little grace and being tenacious pays off. He always seemed to follow-up as soon as he was able – it may not have been per our preferred timeline, but just be patient. I’m sure clients (and potential clients) probably have no idea what an attorney’s schedule is really like. If you’re able to secure him as your legal representative, you’ll see his respect, professionalism, diligence and solid counsel. He is down-to-earth, pragmatic, reasonable, and you will really feel that he’s “on your side.” I recommend using him if your in need of legal assistance regarding any housing issues. We’re glad we did.

Above and beyond. Troy was a tremendous advocate for me as I navigated a lease situation during a very difficult time. I see that there are reviews talking about delayed responses and I just want to point out how overwhelmed things must be in this particular area of law given the circumstances people have endured over the last couple of years. Troy took some time to respond here and there, but at the end of the day he fought hard to get me a fair resolution and was supportive throughout the process. I would definitely reach out to Troy if you need help with your lease!

Troy, with his sophisticated, tactical understanding of tenant law, helped me not one but two times. Throughout the pandemic, I was harassed by my landlords into nearly moving out (self-evicting) simply because I was in their way. While I enjoy researching local, state and federal tenant law, I am no lawyer and would have a hard time navigating the steps towards defend my rights. I really needed someone that has Troy's thorough experience and knowledge, as well as his passion for defending people against landlords and their straight-up bullying.
