I have nothing but superlatives for Kyle Dundas, Attorney at Law. I hired Kyle in defense of a recent traffic violation. Kyle was professional, caring with a friendly demeanor, and always available throughout the legal process. As the court date approached, Kyle arranged my appearance to be remote, saving me time, expenses, and a 300 mile drive. As a result of Kyle’s experience and legal expertise, the ticket was immediately dismissed. The dismissal was an incredible relief. I can’t thank Kyle enough for his professionalism, kindness, and assistance in this matter. Without hesitation, I highly recommend Kyle Dundas as a defense attorney. I had a modest legal issue develop in Kyle's service area - I live in a nearby state. His office staff quickly and efficiently dealt with my preference to handle the case remotely. Kyle was immediately in touch with me and formulated a plan to address the issue. He researched several options for resolution and kept me informed every step of the way. His communication was timely, completely understandable by a layperson, and helpful. He provided exceptional guidance in navigating the options and choosing the path I agreed with. Kyle demonstrated superior knowledge, diligence, commitment, and attention to detail that I greatly appreciated. In the end my case produced an outcome that I was pleased with. I have no reservations in recommending Kyle to those seeking legal assistance. His help made what otherwise would have been a difficult and confusing journey very positive.

I used Kyle Dundas for a divorce and child parenting plan case. He was the absolute best. I interviewed many attorneys and am glad I end with Kyle Dundas. He was very professional, fast, friendly, and always kept things moving in the right direction. I would recommend Kyle to anyone, and will be reaching out to him if I’m in need of an attorney again.

I purchased a used motor home and was promised it was in perfect working condition. It broke down the next day due to numerous mechanical problems. I was also told that is had been gone over by the mechanics and was told no repairs were necessary. Even though I knew it was used motor home, Adam Hanson was able to prove to the Judge that I was mislead and there was misrepresentation of the sales person and thankfully, I was able to return the motor home and get a full refund. This was an very unusual case, and thankfully, I had the right attorney that did a lot of work before the court date and won the case.

Luckily for me I had the chance to get her for my court appointed attorney, she told me not to stress about my case. She told me she would get on it immediately. So she did work on my case and my day in court came and I walked out a free man with no charges

I was a renter being taken advantage of by my ex landlord. I built 2 garages for my landlord on his property. I paid for most the building materials needed in good faith based on a verbal agreement and a hand shake then I started the project. I was almost finished with the 2nd garage when I asked about compensation for this project. I was told that there would be no compensation for my time / labor, only the materials I purchased. I was not too happy to hear this so the landlord and I exchanged words. It was not long after that when I got the eviction notice. I took a good look at the situation I have found myself in and decided I needed a lawyer or be evicted. At this point Im not worried about compensation for the garages, I just dont want an eviction on my public record or be displaced without time to find a new place to reside. I found Micah Moskowitz. He made the eviction go away completely. I ended up with 2-3 months time to relocate. I was awarded my court costs. Without Micah in my corner I would have been walked on by my landlord, most likely the court too and have a judgment against me that I did not deserve. I will use Micah in the future and recommend him to anyone. He was Jonny on the spot and I learned so much working with him.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Salem, Oregon?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
