Dan was an amazing advocate for my son's education. His experience and direct communication were needed throughout the case. I appreciated his no-nonsense and realistic style, which kept us focused on achieving the best possible outcome. While the process was more drawn out than expected (due to the other party), Dan's dedication and updates gave us the reassurance we needed. He continued to fight for justice for my son which kept us thinking positive. I finally felt like I was getting the help I needed in this case. I would definitely recommend Dan to anyone facing injustice in their child's education. His expertise and commitment make him someone you need in your corner in a fight for a quality education.

We worked with Judy Baskin to get a settlement with the school district for our son's specialized, private education. Judy was knowledgable, fast, and relentless. We're forever grateful for the services she provided. We highly recommend working with her!

My case was very difficult and I had so many attorneys decline my case but they would tell me to contact Ms. Speyer, so she’s very well respected with her colleagues they said she would help move things along in my case. Another review said she’s not coddling which she isn’t and that’s needed in order to get things done and keep clients on task it helped me so much. She’s very well respected with the court systems especially Phila Register of Wills and that helps when your trying to get information or get something done. She did a great job of keeping me on task and not letting me get bothered by irrelevant information especially the hatred coming from the other side, so her not allowing me to get emotional showed me she knew what I needed at the time to keep things moving along. My recommendation for anyone using her is to calm down and let her handle things it will take so much of the stress out, you know you hired the best, trust that decision. Ms. Speyer helped me so much and I appreciate her and would and will be recommending her to anyone going through a similar situation.

As executor for both my father and sister's estates, I found myself out-of-my-league in completing the numerous court documents and deadlines needed to meet the State's requirement. Additionally, I was steering this during recovery from a heart transplant. Debra was invaluable to me, working closely to complete the inheritance tax requirements, determine the disbursement of funds to their heirs and nursing me along to submit the required documents needed for closeout. I'd hire her again in a heartbeat (no pun intended) and have recommended her to others to use her services. That, for me, is giving good advice,

Jess Simon has been our Employment and Labor legal counsel for few years. She helped us through building employee handbook creation and understanding the complex labor law. She always has your interest at heart and most importantly, she has compassion and empathy for small businesses like I have. Highly recommended!

I found myself in an unforeseen situation where I needed to seek the advice and guidance of an employment and labor attorney. From the moment, I connected with Ms. Jess Simon I knew that I was in good hands with a trusted and knowledgeable litigator. Throughout the process (which went on for several months), Jess was in constant communication with me, providing real-time updates on the status of my complaint and her ongoing negotiations with my previous employer (a fortune 500 company). Jess' legal strategy was impressive! It was multi-dimensional and continued to evolve throughout the process during discussions with my previous employer. Her superior negotiation skills & expertise helped to secure an outcome that far exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend Ms. Jess Simon. Reach out to her, you will be glad you did!

I hired David Moscow to help my daughter with a false accusation and complicated PFA charge. David worked tirelessly to uncover the truth. He presented a case, that resulted in the court overturning the PFA. David is intelligent, knowledgeable, personable and nonjudgmental. He listens, takes action and guides you through the legal process with expertise and passion. I highly recommend David Moscow to get you through a difficult situation.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
