Pros
1
Highly professional, knowledgeable, and responsive legal representation
“Ari and his team were extremely knowledgeable and explained all my options clearly. Very accessible whenever I had a question or concern. Highly recommended!!”
2
Successful in achieving favorable outcomes for clients
“Ari Karpf listened to the issues I had with my employer and took my case. Ari answered my calls and called me to give me updates about my case. Ari showed compassion, empathy and concern by assuring me he will get my case resolved. Ari worked really hard to get me a settlement while giving me updates throughout the process.”
3
Excellent communication and client support
“Throughout, Ari himself - no associates or paralegals - handled all interactions with me. He was highly accessible, even after hours and on weekends. Even in some very tense discussions regarding the negotiations, he managed to keep me calm, and often flashed a sense of humor that I found extremely refreshing.”
4
Aggressive and willing to fight for clients' rights
“Immediately, there was a change in not only tone (much more empathy, much less "clubiness" with opposing attorneys), but more importantly, Ari immediately showed a willingness to be aggressive and fight, given that my position was definitely defensible.”
5
Reasonable and transparent billing practices
“His fees were very reasonable; I can't remember ever saying THIS about any other law firm!”

My discussion with Ari Karpf was nothing but eye opening and extremely informative on the situation I was subject to by my employer. He is a very quick learner and after hearing the quick details of my situation gave me the confidence that he would go to bat for me and ensure that my employer would have no choice but to be fair to me. I am averse to conflict, and as Ari understood this he helped me through the options I could use for communication with my employer that met my needs. He seemed to be a very honest and realistic counsel that I would go to for any of my legal needs in the future. An optimist who would provide you with a realistic view on options to manage your situation - can you ask for more? I prefer not posting my name as I am still negotiating my contract based on Ari’s recommendations.

When I got initially denied in my unemployment case I was absolutely lost at what to do. Luckily enough, I found Karpf, Karpf & Cerutti, P.C. They immediately took over for me and helped me as I walked through this confusing process. Samantha’s compassion and understanding gave me the biggest sigh of relief. She asked every question possible and helped me get to the hearing process where… I WON. She helped me get the decision reversed. I cannot thank Karpf, Karpf & Cerutti, P.C enough. MY SAVIORS.

I recently had an opportunity to work with Ari regarding an adverse employment situation with a public university in Pennsylvania. There are so many things that stand out from my meetings with him. 1) Following my call to his firm, he initially contacted me on a Sunday which worked great for my schedule - I loved his availability. 2) He was personally invested in the assessment of my situation and did a great job asking questions about the circumstances of my case without giving false hope about the strength of my case. He was matter-of-fact and specific. 3) He took incredibly copious notes. About a month passed between my initial phone call with him and me ultimately hiring Ari to assist in navigating my situation. When we met for the second time, I was amazed at the thoroughness and recollection of the details of my case and we were able to get right into the heart of the decision making about how to move forward. And once I hired him we met almost immediately. There was no dust gathering as I worried about my situation. He was action oriented with the goal of moving to resolution. 4) He was clearly willing to do the work necessary to achieve success, but he also suggested ways to move forward that were less threatening to my employer and allowed me to achieve a satisfactory outcome that was timely, financially beneficial, and wasn't litigious. 5) He used his expert knowledge and experience to assess my situation in a way that allowed me to understand the strengths and weaknesses of my situation and what the most appropriate path forward would be. 6) He consistently checked during the course of our conversation to assess my level of comprehension. 7) He uses great analogies that can make a complicated topic understandable. 8) My situation was resolved rather quickly and did not require significant time. Had we needed to approach the situation in a more aggressive manner, I loved knowing Ari was in my corner and working on my behalf. He was strong, confident and competent in his approach to my case and I have every belief he would have arrived at an even more beneficial resolution to my claims were it necessary to do so. I give Ari the highest recommendation and strongly encourage you to retain him as your attorney should you find yourself in need of legal representation when dealing with an employment situation. I'm incredibly thankful for his guidance and counsel and you will be too.

I had the opportunity to work with Holly Frey on an employment issue. I needed immediate assistance to respond to my employer on an employment concern, so I reached out to several area firms. Holly called me the very next day. After patiently listening to my issue, she provided clear guidance on how I should respond. Additionally, she took the time to explain the differences in laws related to my case. Holly turned what was a frightening situation for me into a manageable one, giving me the confidence to address my employer. I immediately felt at ease and better prepared to move forward with my issue.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Bensalem, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
