My wife and I have used George Vasiliadis as our estate attorney for the last several years, and have found his help and guidance invaluable through several difficult situations. During a needless and protracted family squabble over a family inheritance - largely due to the ineffectual bumbling of a relative's chosen estate attorney, Mr. Vasiliadis kindly and patiently advised us in the background through the process of correcting the effects of this other attorney's negligence, arrogance and outright greed, and helped find a final satisfactory end to the wrangling. George has also advised and mentored us through the processes of estate planning, wills and POA's, and even setting up trusts for our own personal estate. In all he has been approachable, accessible, knowledgeable, responsive, attentive and patient. He is careful, prudent, generous and always looking out for his clients' best interests. I highly recommend his expertise and experience to anyone looking for someone well-trained in the areas of elder law, estate planning, inheritance issues, wills and powers-of-attorney, and trusts. There are many attorneys out there to choose from, and many who are not focused on client service. We suffered for over two years under the oppression of a very different, slovenly and greedy attorney who obviously hadn't one thought about what was best for the Executors he worked for, but could only see the dollar signs left by his primary client. George Vasiliadis on the other hand seems to be doing this because he genuinely wants to help people with some of the most difficult and lasting decisions of their lives. If you want someone who cares and can help guide you through these times, choose George.

Vasiliadis law firm extremely helpful with my grandparents and very knowledgeable when it came to elder. George was especially both understanding and sympathetic with the specific situation we had encountered. I would strongly recommend this firm to anyone who needs any elder law advice.

Mr Vasiliadis has helped me and many members of my family. He is extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He has done our Living Wills, Last Will and Testament, and has answered and helped with numerous questions. I've personally learned so much through him because of his willingness to help and answer questions. It is rare to find a lawyer who can be completely trusted, but I promise you, Mr Vasiliadis is honest, trustworthy and reliable. He will always do what is in the client's best interest. Legal issues of any kind are extremely complicated. I'm so glad that I have Mr Vasiliadis to lean on and to trust with my legal business and affairs. One more thing! The friends of mine who didn't take his advice, learned in the end, how wrong they were to not follow his advice! Lawyers study long and hard and continue to study for a reason!

I hired Mr. Yannuzzi when purchasing our first home in the early 1990s. I was so impressed with his attention to detail, his determination to ensure we're were taken care of and protected that I have consulted with him over the years on various legal issues; from consumer issues, professional contracts, vehicle accidents to a faulty windshield installation that resulted in extensive damage to our car. Oh and his fees a extremely reasonable! I used Joe for our second home and continue to do so for all major life decisions. Again, highly recommended!

I hired Rebecca as my divorce attorney this year. My husband made the decision to leave our marriage and our two teenage sons and I needed to protect myself and my children. I knew that I wanted to make sure things didn't get ugly but also needed someone to stand up for my boys and I . Rebecca was the perfect choice. She listened to me and how I wanted to proceed with custody as well as division of assets etc. Communication with Rebecca and her assistant were spot on and I never felt lost or in the dark. Although divorce is a painful process , Rebecca ensured that I was good with all the proceedings. I am very thankful to have had Rebecca in my corner and would absolutely recommend ( and have ) her to others that may be going through a divorce.

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
