Excellent legal representation and successful case outcomes
“The attorneys at Abom & Kutulakis are amazing! Their attorneys have helped me personally with a real estate matter, a serious juvenile issue, estate planning and a criminal investigation issue. All worked out in my favor so I have been pleased with using this firm and highly recommend to anyone with a legal issue.”
2

“Abom & Kutulakis are some of the best around PA. Not just PA, everywhere in my opinion. Knowledgeable and very professional. They fight for you, and try to resolve each case the best way possible.”
3
Responsive and attentive to client needs
“Shannon listened and was attentive. I felt like she cared about my case and never left me guessing.”
4
Successful case results and client satisfaction
“TR Williams was professional, thorough, and responsive to our questions and concerns. He did a good job negotiating a fair plea deal for my son. We are pleased with the outcome.”
5
Trustworthy and reliable legal services
“I was recently represented by Stephanie L. Cesare in a case in York Pa. She definitely knows the law and was all around super knowledgeable in my case. She did an outstanding job of representing me and got the best possible plea agreement I could have hoped for in my situation.”
Cons
1
Expensive legal fees and billing issues
“This law firm ripped us off continuously and we didn't even know until we got another attorney though another firm. To start with we were dealing with a family court issue. We hired Stephanie who was suggested through the firm. we later found out that Stephanie does not really practice family law she does criminal. This may not be Stephanie's fault I might be the firms but either way it hurt their client in the end. Stephanie had no idea what she was doing didn't even file for divorce as requested and we didn't even know that she didn't file until a year later. More so the law firm went past our retainer by over 10,000 dollars.”
2
Lack of communication and responsiveness from some attorneys
“Stephanie continiously dropped the ball, was regularly unprepared. NEVER called/emailed/anything to update me on the case. A YEAR AND CHANGE LATER she is STILL not familiar with any of the details of my case.”
3
Inconsistent quality of legal representation
“My first consultation with them was nearly worthless. I got the most basic information for the first 10 minutes of the session without getting a word in and the guy tried to end the paid consultation 20-25 minutes early.”
4
Failure to follow through on promised actions
“We were both told that our attorney was going to do certain things or try to make certain things happen, and none of them did.”
5
Prioritizing firm revenue over client interests
“They have no problem taking your money but do little if anything to actually defend your case. They do less than a public defender.”

Very professional and helpful. Attorney Todd Williams Jr made the process very clear and easy to understand. He took the time to answer any questions I had. And even though I retained him 3 days before my court case he was able to get everything prepared in time. I would 100% recommend Abom & Kutulakis to any one in need of legal representation.

I recently required the legal services and representation of Attorney Jay Abom. Mr. Abom was thoughtful in my legal plight, informative of what legal options were available to me, and comforting when the inevitable stressors of the arduous legal process began to take their toll. I will always recommend that anyone in need of legal representation seek out Attorney Jay Abom and his remarkable team.

Jay Abom is everything you DON'T want in a lawyer. Overpriced, terrible listener and actually prides himself on showing up unprepared. I have never met a more money grubbing charlatan masquerading as a lawyer in my life. His only true talents are to overcharge you and then ignore you. STAY AWAY!!

Mr. Meyer was very knowledgeable and easy to understand. He was on top of everything and was very responsible. He would always contact us the same day or as soon as there were any updates. I highly recommend Mr Carl , we have used him for a criminal case and advice on probate and wills. We are going to use him to make a family trust. In my mind he is the first attorney call. If there were 10 stars for rating he would get a 15.

After years of not getting anywhere with another lawyer. I spoke with McKenzie, and he assured we would get past points of friction regarding my divorce. McKenzie called me and asked me what I was trying to do or what I needed to settle. He was very thorough and precise in his questions towards, and he seemed genuine and empathetic told him we had been separated for 3 years and I did not want anything except to be divorced. After much push back from the opposing counsel, McKenzie fought for me and ensured I didn’t give anything else up. When the MSA was received it was exactly what I needed and wanted to move forward with the divorce. In just a matter of time, I had my final MSA and my divorce was finalized. I spent money on an attorney prior and she never fought for me or asked what I needed. Every time I asked, she told me that we would talk after, and we never did. McKenzie on the other hand was extremely transparent and notified me right away about the negotiation process with opposing counsel. He showed me what a lawyer should do for a client, and I will definitely be recommending him to people in need of a lawyer. Sergio

I needed help with my custody situation and Mr. Clark was helpful and on point every step of the way. I suffer from an anxiety disorder and he was patient and understanding from beginning to end and did not make me feel like my numerous questions were a burden or obnoxious. A true professional who goes the distance. I got the exact outcome that I desired. 10/10

McKenzie Clark is a fantastic lawyer. I have a high conflict ex and Mr. Clark took the time to explain everything that happened or going to happen in a timely manner. He even went above and beyond to check in to see that no problems had occurred throughout the whole process. He made sure to listen to my worries and make them known throughout our whole custody hearing! I am so appreciative of Mr. Clark and everything he did for my custody case!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Carlisle, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
