I was drawn into a Landlord-Tenant (L/T) lawsuit by the estranged wife of my deceased tenant. What ensued was insanity & extortion. I looked to David Woosley (DW) for help since I worked with him in the past. He began helping, but what I came to understand eventually, was that he & his team had no real knowledge of this type of law, and it is extensive. When you know nothing as a layperson, you're completely dependent on your atty being honest about their abilities in that particular field. They could simply tell you that you clearly need someone who specializes in that field, rather than dive in, take your money & make a bigger mess. One of my main issues is that ALL of our legal defense through DW was entirely made up of my ideas, which were based in common sense, logic & fairness, which we all know is not how the legal system actually works. DW was looking to me for answers all along– I was crafting the communications with the opposing side – a small amount of legal jargon was then added & they were sent off to the opposition as if this was a sound defense, but in reality there was no basis in L/T law. Months later, when things seemed to be going obviously wrong, I contacted multiple other lawyers & a retired judge – all who specialize in L/T law. Each one had various reasons why DW had mishandled my situation. I had to end my relationship with DW & hire someone else – only after having spent about $7500. Some suggested malpractice, but I didn't want to spend more money on this frivolous suit. When I went to DW with this information, he obviously defended his position. I asked for a refund of at least a portion of my invoice – with a laundry list of reasons (both my own & those of experts in this field). In particular, I was requesting reimbursement for the cost of his 'Answer to Complaint', which was described by the experts as 'flowery', 'excessive' & holding no legal standing or protocol – almost entirely filled with my writings & musings – as if I was the legal expert in L/T law – no legal basis whatsoever. But how would I have known this at the time?! Dave wrote that he & his asst “thought” it's what I wanted. So I paid for something that took many hours/days to create, and it was only a reiteration of my own thoughts – not an actual lawyer's, with knowledge & experience in this field. Eventually, DW said he would think about this & promised to get back to me (in writing). I reached out multiple times & each time he stated it would take some time, but that he would reply. He never did. My last communication was Nov 2024. He never replied to this one, and thus I'm realizing I was duped & decided to make my experience with him public. If you want a lawyer who allows you to do all the work, uses your opinions as a legal defense, and then charges you a ridiculous amount for minimal work, David Woosley is your guy.

Well I don't know where to start to express how pleased and excellent LEGAL SOLUTIONS and what they represent. The dedication to their clients and concerns is over and beyond any service. My husband and I had the pleasure of having attorney Jacqueline E. Alexander, Esquire to represent him in a child custody case that we thought would be a nightmare. To say attorney Alexander dependable, helpful and dedicated to her clients is an understatement. First my husband had a complex custody case in which attorney Jacqueline E. Alexander Esquire was a superhero at making the case fair and acceptable to both parties. She fights for her clients until the very end and makes sure her clients’ concerns are addressed. From the beginning to end she was very detailed and informative, which most attorneys are not due to busy life in court, or the case is not reviewed in time. Every time I needed her, she either called me right back or picked up the phone to talk with a positive demeanor and attitude. She is up front with no hidden agendas and always makes sure her clients are in the loop. Her representation is A1, and she is a beautiful person inside and out. We were amazingly blessed to hire her as my husband’s attorney. We are pleased and will use her service if needed in the future. Thank you so much attorney Jacqueline. You rock!!!

Legal Solutions, specifically Ms. Alexander, handled my divorce with the utmost professionalism and compassion. The firm believed in me when other firms would not. Throughout the ordeal, I was treated with dignity and respect by the entire team. Ms. Alexander, in my opinion, went to great lengths to endure that I was heard. I highly recommend this firm to anyone needing representation. You couldn't be in better hands!

I recently used Mike for my 2nd dui case in bucks co Pa. He prepared me for the worst and promised me nothing then was able to negotiate the most minimal sentence against all odds, and terms better than I had hoped. Throughout the process, Mike was a true friend and kept my spirits high when I was down on myself. He is a true gentleman and I would've paid 5x the fee as he is more than worth it. If you have a DUI in the Philadelphia suburban area, do yourself a favor and higher this man as your attorney! He knows everyone in every courtroom and if a deal csn me made, he will find a way. Even in my case where there was no chance, he somehow found a way and I'm truly grateful. Also his assistant (Amy) is wonderful and was a huge help and excellent resource for advice on days Mike was tied up in court.

I hired Michael to represent me in a DUI case and was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. He was upfront and honest, and told me exactly what I could be facing. Due to his vast knowledge and experience in these matters, Mike was able to negotiate the best possible outcome I could have ever expected. I am so grateful to him and highly recommend him if you ever need representation.

Chris had made what would have been a rather stressful process, simple and straightforward. He had always made sure that I understood all of the legal terms and conditions. He was very good about considering the personal aspect of everything as well. I'd recommend Chris to anyone looking for a quality attorney

Going back 20 or so years, I have occasionally consulted with Chris on a variety of matters. His viewpoint and advice is "to the point" without lapsing into legalese and jargon, and he is efficient. Most of all, I like that in addition to framing the conversation in legal terms, he applies common sense and sensitivity to the situation. I just feel he has the eye on getting the particular matter solved, rather than have his eye on the billing clock. Very highly recommended.

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Doylestown, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
