I was referred to Hillary by a family friend who was going through a similar situation. My friend had nothing but great things to say about the job that Hillary did for their family and the results that were achieved. Our experience started with a pressure free consultation. We immediately knew that we had found the person we wanted to represent our family. At every corner Hillary was extremely responsive. She was always available to quickly and thoroughly answer the seemingly thousands of questions that came up. She handled herself professionally in court and we were able to achieve an even more favorable outcome than we originally intended. Hillary was extremely thorough, flexible and a complete bulldog when necessary. Her compassion and attention to detail helped our family become whole and I cannot thank her, or the MacElree Harvey firm, enough for everything they were able to do for us.

She answered all of our questions thoroughly and was quick to return a phone call or email. With her guidance we were able to find a happy resolution to our case quickly. I would highly recommend Hillary Moonay.

I have a lot of experience with lawyers since my issues seemed impossible to rectify. I have been through the courts with 3 different "reputable" attorney's; I went through 10's of thousands of dollars before I finally found Hillary. I got lucky with a recommendation to use Hillary Moonay, from Williams Family Law. I must say that from my experience, this female attorney was the most honest, experienced, straight forward, determined and knowledgeable attorney that produced results for me that I thought would never happen. I am a father who received SOLE LEGAL & PRIMARY PHYSICAL CUSTODY of my daughter, which does not happen often in the Doylestown Court System. Hillary was the angel for my daughter and I; she knew what was right and put her heart and pristine skill into my case- because she cares. I never found an attorney that cared so much about what was right for her client and used her skill to fight for it. Hillary Moonay's performance is one of a kind, because I have been sold so many promises from other attorney's that I truly thought would get it done-- sadly, minimal results at the cost of big bucks is what I experienced over the last 3.5 years. I had court 2 days ago when this all came true, and I am on cloud nine that I have my little girl full time in good hands, where she should be. I could talk about how organized Hillary's law ethic combined with her experience, intelligence and history with the courts made me comfortable, but the truth of the matter is her passion for law was the driving force that gave me the results I have today. There is nothing more important then our children and Hillary brought my daughter Gia, back to her home with me; I am willing to talk more about my experience because I vouch for this elite lawyer with all my heart.

First I would like to say 'Thank You!' I am very pleased and grateful that you are representing me in my divorce. You are always very prompt to reply regardless of the time of day and I truly believe you are looking out for my best interest whether it be advice in my divorce or helping me to control legal fees as I requested upfront. Right from the start, your professionalism in handling my case has sincerely impressed me. More importantly your approach in providing legal advice in my personal situation and your direct, clear and sincere style made a difficult situation much easier to navigate. In every phone call or meeting you consistently took the time to ensure I understood the process, questions and next steps. Again, thank you!

Jeff has helped me with both bankruptcy and foreclosure. He is honest, engaging, knowledgeable, prompt, and has that special ability of making you feel as though you are his only client. He is also very creative in his approach to your problem. I recommend him to ANYONE who needs a smart, resourceful attorney! And his fees are reasonable as well! Btw -bankruptcy discharged a few years ago, and as far as foreclosure, am still in my home!

Greg Mitsch is not just an excellent attorney, but also an incredible human. Truly one of the good guys, he understands the art of fighting hard if he has to, but fair. He brings extensive legal knowledge with psychological awareness, ethics and respect; an often rare combination amongst high conflict divorce attorneys. He put me at ease, equipped me with as much information as I needed, handled for me what I didn’t need to, and I had a near perfect outcome. I imagine most anyone would feel safe, protected, and well informed with his representation.

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Doylestown, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
