We hired Alan Gelb for a civil litigation matter. Mr. Gelb was thorough and prepared and he was knowledgeable of the law. Mr. Gelb was always available for questions, he gave personal attention and always returned phone calls. Mr. Gelb guided us through the process with ease; he supported us through every step as our matter was as important to him as it was to us. Mr. Gelb is professional and brilliant and goes above and beyond to bring the best outcome for your case.

All right I normally do not write these things but in this case, its least i can do... Up until I became a single father I had never needed to try and find lawyer, let alone a good one... and the idea of having to go to court and fight that custody and support battle was overwhelming and scary. The first few consultations with other council was extremely disheartening, most lawyers are slimey, and i wanted nothing to do with any of it.. luckily, I was discussing this very thing with a coworker buddy and he handed me Alan's card, and said call "call him, tell him i sent you"... I will never need or want another lawyer. long story short, Alan got me everything i asked for, he's one of the good ones, not out to get rich and rack up the billable hours...he's there to help. There is nothing worse than seeing good, hard-working everyday people get taken advantage of...Alan does something about it

I hired Arlene to represent me in a case where I was trying to get money back from a business who was refusing to refund my timely return of merchandise to them. Arlene took the case and kept me updated on its progress. She not only prepared for it superbly, but was also complimented by the court for her handling of the case. I was prepared to pay her fees, but she found a point of law in which the fees would be included with the settlement from the business we were up against. I am so glad I found her to be my attorney. She was professional, knowledgeable, and timely and had great rapport as an attorney. I would recommend her to anyone needing an attorney. If I had tried to do this myself, I would have had a fool for a client. Call her. She never charged me just to talk.

Benjamin Steinberg is a good lawyer despite my case was lost due to Brookdale living center under handed techniques of forging my hand writing and fake witnesses. Ben gave a great fight. He cares about his clients and he does check on them. Going into my case I wish I would have seen him sooner before my company manipulated me into agreeing to their ideas. To those who are seeking a lawyer I would recommend him. Do not risk your chance by going to your company for advise because they will take advantage of the employee. I express the importance to getting to know the knowledge you need by going to the lawyer first before going to your company. It would have made a world of difference. Do not allow the company to push you around stand up for your self and get a great person like him.

I was involved in a slip and fall accident. I called Benjamin Steinberg for assistance on what to do. He was professional while being so compassionate and caring. He advised me on what to do, answered my questions and was very patient with me. I knew he was the attorney to handle my case. Ben spoke to me several time to keep me up to date on what was happening with my case and of course he was always concerned about how I was feeling. After several months of medical treatment I felt I was feeling better and spoke to Ben about settling the case. Much to my surprise, I received a larger settlement than I had expected. Wow, Ben is terrific! I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for legal help in any type of accident. He is tops as far as I am concerned.

I hired Ben Steinberg to be my attorney after I was in a serious automobile accident. I hired Ben during a difficult time, and in retrospect it was the best decision I could have ever made. Over the course of our attorney-client relationship, Ben placed an emphasis on keeping me informed and empowered. I came away very impressed with Ben's vast knowledge in personal injury litigation and the inner-workings of the Philadelphia region's legal system. From the outset, Ben was my tireless and zealous advocate. During an uncertain time, Ben was with me every step of the way. I believe that Ben Steinberg's professionalism and unflagging devotion to always act in my best interest is what eventually led to my very significant settlement. I recommend Ben Steinberg as a personal injury attorney in the strongest possible terms.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Feasterville Trevose, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
