Posting a review that could easily consume several pages. Over the past year, Deb has provided an outstanding level of advice, moral support and professional services as I explored and committed to adoption. Not only was she extremely knowledgeable and well organized but she was punctual, professional, has clear communication and great follow-up! I was very fortunate to have Deb by my side, who provided the kind of support you would normally only receive from your closest loved ones. Always professional, but also personable enough to see and understand Deb’s profession is her passion! Our journey was long and at times wearing but I was consistently blown away by her commitment to us as clients and you will be too.

I initially engaged Deb for a custody case and have been very grateful ever since. She was able to win sole custody for the father, which seemed like a dream when we started the process. Deb was able to accomplish what seemed like an impossible task in the City of Philadelphia, and a child's life and our lives are immeasurably better as a result. She was understanding of the matter, an excellent communicator with the child, and fantastic with keeping us in the loop on all procedures. I would recommend her to anyone seeking counsel in any of the fields she specializes in.

During one of the most critical and emotional times of my life, Debbie with ZERO NOTICE jumped into my case with little to no questions asked except for necessary questions for immediate filings! I cannot express how wonderful it has been working with Debbie and how on top of her cases she is and how she works collaboratively with her client and really listens to her clients. I would recommend Debbie with any of your family law needs!!

I'm sharing my experience because I truly feel Debra should not be practicing law, due to a sheer lack of professionalism and consideration for her clients. I contacted Debra in April 2018 and explained my family court issue thoroughly. I'm the plaintiff in my case and I am covering all my legal fees. I provided the paperwork she requested to review my case to which she replied got it thanks. The next step was for her to enter the appearance. This never happened. Debra claimed she needed extra paperwork signed, she never told me she was mailing extra paperwork nor did she follow up with me to see if received said paperwork. The court date was scheduled for October 2018 which was 6 months after I initially spoke with her. The day before my court date I contacted Debra because I hadn't heard anything since our initial dialogue. She politely informed me that not only do I not have a lawyer for tomorrow's hearing but that her schedule is now full and there is no way she can assist me. In her own words, she "assumed" I didn't want to move forward because of one document missing a signature. I haven't been able to get in contact with her since. If you truly care about the outcome of your case and very much need someone competent on your side, Debra Moshinski is absolutely NOT the way to go.

This was the first time I used the legal service but It will not be my last. Debra got me a settlement on a 10 year old debt that has been hanging over my head for 10 years. She called eight away and was very easy to talk with. She contacted the law firm and got me a settlement that save me $700. Thank you Debra.

I've had limited dealings with lawyers over the years and those that I did have were not positive experiences. I had a big heart attack around Christmas time of last year and needed a new will and a new living will. My daughter suggested this office since she passes on her way to work everyday in town. I had a real good experience. Joe explained all my options for both items and the work was done fast and delivered fast, which I needed because of upcoming open heart surgery in early January. He is a knowledgeable attorney and he stayed in touch all throughout my recover. I embarrassed him real good when I told him how cute my daughter, who brought me to the appointment, thinks he is!

I would STRONGLY recommend Mr Michael Mcllmail for any of your legal needs. I have a father with cancer / other disabilities and was being discriminated against at a local city organization. A friend of mine recommended attorney who he had a great experience with in the past, Michael Macllmail. With in one call to Mr Macllmail, my father got the justice and fair treatment he deserves. Mr Mcllmail was extremely personable, understanding and caring towards my fathers needs. His work was prompt and extremely professional. He was great at working around my schedule and unlike other attorneys, Mr Macllmail never kept me waiting. He always returned all my phone calls quickly. Great over all lawyer. I'd highly recommend him to anyone in need of legal services.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
