Attorney Neil O'Donnell was assigned to me as the election-board solicitor in Luzerne County, PA in 2004. I'd worked with Atty. O'Donnell in my previous campaigns-and-elections experience, too. It was from 2004-2012, however, I came to know Atty. O'Donnell's work best. From day one, Atty. O'Donnell had my back. And, let me tell you, in the election business, one's back becomes a pretty big space to defend - Neil always had it covered. His understanding of the election laws of the Commonwealth, his passion for them and his courtroom skills never ceased to impress me. Moreover, he never wavered in his dedication to our cause, kept me well informed of our progress and always knew, very precisely, where our cases stood. Aggressive when appropriate, Atty. O'Donnell can - and will if necessary - take the fight to the courtroom and he definatley delivers results. Widely respected, Atty. O'Donnell is true professional who is rather candid, and yet, exceptionally modest. Whether you consider Attorney Neil O'Donnell for your election-law needs or your personal-injury claim, be assured, he will be there with you shoulder-to-shoulder, every step of the way, with one thing on his mind - adjudication in your favor. I not only want to recommend Neil and his work in this forum - I also wish to personally thank him for it.

Neil represented me in a drunk driving head on collision; I was the victim. He was always available to me, He is a noble Human Being and is very thorough. He maintains a five star staff. He has earned the respect of all we encountered including Lawyers, Judges, the Medical field and my entire family and friends. He is a master of what he does and clearly loves what he does. He is successful, kind, a great family man and the best at research and his presentations are stellar. Neil is very earnest and honest. I am also in awe of his practice of giving back to the community and faith in God. I will remain forever grateful that he put his touch on my life and case. You won't find anyone better.

I was absolutely terrified and blindsided when I received notice that, after the welfare department waived renewal requirements for Medicaid and SNAP benefits in 2020, due to the pandemic- I was being charged with welfare fraud (having not appropriately updated them in writing with my salary change). I received a form letter about a month later, advertising Attorney Lehman’s experience. Having no idea where else to turn, I called her office. I was fairly skeptical, but after speaking with her, I hired her, based on her calm, matter-of-fact demeanor, and reassurance that she could handle this case. Although I remained anxious- as we only communicated over the phone and through email a couple times before the preliminary hearing- she more than deserves a 5-star rating. The result was that I needed to repay the overpayment that welfare had given me, which is completely understandable. But when I’d first been notified of the criminal charges, and offered to repay whatever I wasn’t entitled to, the investigator stated that this wasn’t an option. It had seemed like a misunderstanding, that occurred during a worldwide emergency, would mean a permanent criminal record, and possibly prison. Attorney Lehman was able to negotiate a dismissal of charges altogether- which I doubt would have happened otherwise. She provided not only legal expertise, but the reassurance and competence throughout this ordeal that was invaluable.

I was in a very tramatic auto accident where I sustained injuries that required surgery. On top of bodily injury my car was totaled and, I developed a fear of driving and riding in a motor vehicle. It took months to recover and return to work. I contacted Peter Biscontini to handle my case. He immediately got to work investigating the accident. He contacted me whenever he had questions or needed documentation to assist in the case. He came and, visited me at my home and brought paperwork I needed to review and sign. In spite of the nature of our meeting; overall my experience with Peter was very pleasant. He did what needed to be done to make sure I was awarded enough to cover not only medical expenses, cost of new vehicle but, also pain and suffering. If ever I needed or someone I know would need services related to this type of case I would highly recommend Mr. Peter Justin Biscontini and, be confident that they also would be pleased with the service he will provide.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Kingston, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
