I based my decision to hire Mr. Norfleet to handle my SSD application on the reviews posted.  I was most attracted to the customer service part of the reviews.   From the begining of the application process to the end of the award of the appeal hearing, the entire staff was so friendly, caring, accommedating and sincere. Several times they would even meet me in the parking lot to get papers i was dropping off.  It was difficult for me to walk the distance to get inside the office and all i had to do is call them and someone would come to my car to get the papers.  Who does that anymore?!   Mr. Norfleet was so thorough and detailed throughout the entire 18 month appeal process.  He made the process as easy as it could be during the appeal.  At the appeal hearing, he was completely prepared and confident.  He certainly eased my fears of the hearing.  He advised me what to expect at the hearing and he was right on every count! My case was settled very quickly (less than three weeks) which is very unsual.  I attribute the quick resolution to Mr. Norfleet's thoroughness, preparedness, professionalism, and respect for the court.   I highly recommend Mr. Norfleet to anyone who needs assistance with their social security disability filing! My daughter and I would like to take this time to say thank you for your help. When we had a problem and didn't know where to turn, I ask God for guidance and we were sent to Andy Norfleet. He is a very nice honest straight up person, and a great lawyer. Mr. Norfleet told us exactly what was going to happen from the very beginning. He did not give us false hope, nor did he mislead us on anything. The day of the hearing he showed so much kindness for my daughter and myself. We felt like he was a good friend instead of our lawyer. Andy Norfleet you are a blessing.

Ms. Hokamp is thorough, professional and very knowledgeable of family law. She remained readily accessible throughout the legal process. I was never uninformed and any questions that I had were answered promptly. Ms. Hokamp made an intimidating, stressful process easier to navigate. I appreciate the guidance and assistance i received during what seemed to be a never ending process.

Lauren was instrumental in helping my child obtain the specialized instruction he needed. Her detail in helping me set goals, accomodations, and SDIs took my child's IEP to another level. She informed me of my child's rights under the law, and she helped me prepare for the meetings with the school. She is very passionate about special education law, and I would unequivocally recommend her to anyone encountering difficulties with their child's school district or simply to ensure that their child's IEP is the best it can possibly be.

Lauren was a terrific attorney who "came to bat for me" when I needed it the most. I had a custody battle and Lauren's knowledge of the laws and procedures were a big help for me. This made it easy to be able to talk to her as if I had known her for years. She always had reasonable recommendations that made sense and helped my case out. Whenever I had a question, she responded professionally. Whenever she wasn't available when I needed to talk to her, she was able to get back to me very quickly and take action when it needed to be done. I was always informed whenever something happened or changed. Lauren never ignored my concerns and made things happen. She also built confidence in me when things looked like they were going downhill. Perhaps one of Lauren's best traits is her commitment to her job and clients. I would definitely recommend her to anybody.

Sandy's guidance through the process of my custody battle resulted in the positive outcome I was hoping for. She organized all the facts and identified what was most important. She was extremely well prepared and focused. Her staff was professional and responsive. I highly recommend Sandy. The only negative is cost. However, you will get results so my advice is to hire Sandy and sit down before opening the bill.

Sandy Meilton is one of the finest, ethical and capable lawyers I was fortunate enough to have represent me. Her responsiveness, knowledge of Family and Divorce law and her demeanor make her an extremely effective Attorney. Having used Attorney's in my business and having attended law school myself, I can assure you I have come in contact and used numerous lawyers and law firms. Few if any match the ability of Sandy and that is the reason why I highly reccommend her to my family, friends and associates. Should you need the expertise Sandy possesses, I would have no reservation about hiring her and her very capable staff. Sincerely, Mark

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Lemoyne, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
