I had the unfortunate opprotunity to be represented by this so called attorney in a simple assault case in lebanon county .first off all it took was a woman saying I hit her .when infact I was being abused.at the time I had just been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.and was livingvwithv a woman I had met on an internet dating website.I was around the woman maybe one month when her crazy side surfaced..she was quick tempered and volitile .it was nother for her to push , slap, punch me .I truly beleive it was because she knew I wouldnt hit her .I was never the type to put my hands on anyone let alone a woman.I attempted to bide my time until it would be logical to sneak away from this relationship .as trying to sit down like an adult and explain my ferlings on our situation.was always met with some sort of violent reaction .I realized that any sort of rejection sent this woman into a frenzy.one day while she was at work I began to pack my things.it took a while because I was very weak.at that time I was takibg 1000 miligrams of a steroid per day and about 20 pills .I had a walker and also an I.v in my arm..as I was packing she came in and saw me .and it was instant she pushed me causing me to fall as I had no control over my balance at the time .I wasn't willing to argue or even attempt to try and reason with her I just wanted to leave. I called the police in the hopes they could escort me out of the premises without an incident.I calle d the cops I told hrr.her reply was so what ill just tel them u hit me...I don't care I said just taking it as one of her usual crazy rants.within the 5 or so kinutes before they arrived I had to withstand many punches and shoves from this woman who strong and pretty bent on scratching my faxe for some reason.all this while on a walker sick as a dog with an I.v in my arm.when we heard yhe police comming .she pushed past me screaming he hit me he hit me ..that was all it took.I was arrested without a chance to say a word.I was taken to the good sameriten hospi tree alwhere I was hand cuffed to the hospital bed gor 8 hours.because the doctors would not release me in my condition.by the morning I was gicen a letter to say once released I had to turn myself into the lebanon police .which I did I was subsequently charged with simple assault and harrassment.and given paper work and instructions to report to kim evans who woul dc serve as my public derender.the first time I walked into her office I could tell she didn't like me ..there wasca discusted look on her face.I hadn't said one word to hrr. .so I'm gathering something about my appearence mite have prompted her expression rite off the back I was cut off from fuly explaining my side of the story .all she would say was that I'm facibg 2 years upstate .for example I would say kim what should I do .she would say I'm not allowed to give u advice on what uou should do but your facing two years upstate ..I mean as a sick man as sick as I was thevthought of jail time was very stressfull and scary...since I felt like she waant listenibg to me. I ask to speak to her supervisor .she slammed my papers on the eesk and sent him to me .he took me into aroom whrre he told me that you couldn't pat him to be a black man in lebanon coubty and although it mite not be faircthat I had to makeca choice for the lesser evil.either go to trial or accept a plea agreement ..at this point BBC i knew I would not receive justice .I took the few weeks I had before the case to gather my own evidence .I had letters from my x's and f amily as charactor witnesses..I found a file from the lebanon courthouse that charged the same woman with false reporting to a police officer.I had phone calls of her statibg she lied.the fact that I called the police .and the fact that a month prior to the incedent I reported my situation to my doctors who wrote it in my records..even a nurse who refused to treat me at home because of the irrational behavior that this woman exibited.all she had was

Ms Misturak Gingrich was general counsel for the United Telephone Company/Sprint for Pennsylvania & NJ. I worked with Ms Gingrich on many environmental and real estate issues while we were colleques. Following employment with United Tel/Sprint Ms Gingrich provided legal opinions for me related to personal and business matters. I recently completed a divorce and Ms Gingrich was extremely helpful in dealing with real estate issues related to the transfer of property assets and cleaning up Deed related issues for my property. She was also very helpful in working with lenders and title companies to help resolve and close all the open issues

Kathleen was extremely supportive, including contacting me while she was on vacation. Her philosophy that "information is enpowering" is right in line with mine, her high moral and ethical standards are and were exactly what I wanted. When I first met Kathleen and her firm I felt like I had come home. She guided me through some delicate legal maneuvering with her knowledge and experience protecting my corporation and myself masterfully! She truly cares about her clients as individuals and puts herself out there for her clients when needed, regardless of time, or her own circumstances. If you need her she will be there!

first of all, she is a wonderful human being. she is patient, ambitious, detail oriented, very determined and her knowledge of business law is unmatched. she is very sincere and she cares about her clients, not only professionally but personally. i hired her for a business contract between me and the landlord. she walked with me thoroughly and explained everything in detail just to make sure the landlord did not have the advantage over me. she was willing to take the extra step to come to my house just to make sure i understand and know what i'm getting myself into.

I believed in Mr Jacobs after our first talk! He listened, believed, and gave me no doubt that, he will fight hard for me. The whole process went quick. He kept me well informed the whole way. After what happened to me I was stressed, embarrassed, and over all depressed. When everything was finished I felt some redemption, satisfaction, and ready to move forward from the negative incident. Thanks for picking me back up! From the first call until our final handshake, he fought hard for me! If you want honesty, and good old fashion hard work, than Mr. Jacobs is the lawyer for you!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
