Nelson was the counsel for a seller, I was the buyer and had to work through Nelson. Over a 11 day period... Nelson took days to call back, after multiple calls and multiple emails, finally called to tell me that we did not win the bid for the house. I come to find out that even though my letter of intent AND my AOS said that I would cover closing costs, along with phone conversations confirming the fact, the seller told me that wasn't conveyed to him. It cost me the deal. I found it very odd how this played out. Attention to detail is not his strong suit.

I was facing serious charges a year ago. I hired a private lawyer but they were not really helpful. I was going through hearings without really feeling I was being helped by my attorney. Then it got to a point where they needed more money to proceed with the case. I was feeling hopeless. They asked for a ridiculous amount of money that I did not have and they were not really helpful to begin with. So I started looking for another lawyer to help my situation. My uncle, through a lawyer friend of his recommended Steven Omeara. After going with Mr. Omeara i totally lost that feeling of hopelessness that I had. Steven was very helpful and fought very diligently for me. He was always on top of things. He is a well recognized lawyer and I must say that I got a first hand look as to why he is so sought after. Steven helped me get into a program where they will expunge my charges upon completion. The previous lawyer I had failed to get me into the program but Steven did. I couldnt be where Im at without Steven Omeara. And I highly recommend him for all your legal matters.

Steven is the best Attorney that I had experience with in the legal system and has been proven to fight for his clients until the truth exonerated them. He is very Knowledgeable when it comes to the law and has a good working relationship with his colleagues that earns him much respect. He is proficient at his profession and takes on a case with zeal and passion like none that I have seen. I am very Thankful to have him represent me and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who was wronged by untruthful and manipulators of the system. If you are truly innocent and need someone who actually cares about your wellbeing and your rights then I would highly recommend him.

We consulted with Patrick after my husband ended up in a nightmarish situation resulting in a potential legal malpractice claim. The case involved a complicated set of facts, so we had a lengthy consultation with Patrick. He went above and beyond in terms of taking the time to understand all the moving pieces. He listened carefully to our problems and took the time to respond to our questions. He thoroughly analyzed my husband's situation before ultimately identifying an excellent reason why we did not have a case. As an attorney myself, I recognize the significant care Patrick put into his consultation. I am also impressed by his insight into a complex situation (I myself did not recognize the shortcomings of my husband's potential case until Patrick pointed it out). Finally, I am blown away by the level of thoughtfulness and dedication that Patrick exhibited before we even entered into an attorney-client relationship. I would not hesitate to recommend Patrick in any context -- you would be in excellent hands. Not only does Patrick have a keen legal mind but he is also a very kind person who displayed a great amount of empathy and patience throughout our consultation. He clearly cares a lot about what he does and is very good at it. You'd be very lucky to have him representing you.

Working with Patrick has sincerely been a pleasure. He was empathetic towards my situation and was passionate about providing great quality legal services. There was no question too big or small that he would not mind taking the time to answer. He maintained his professionalism through your entire process. Even when the trajectory of my legal issues changed, he was there to meet my need. He assured me that his role was to be supportive to me in the decisions that I made. He is truly a superb lawyer who is devoted to providing services to his clients. If you are looking for a professional, compassionate, honest, and humble lawyer, give Patrick a call! And if he can't meet your need, he will not hesitate to give you the proper information to lead you into the direction you need to go.

I would not hesitate recommending Patrick Gibson for one second! Working with Patrick literally restored my faith in lawyers again. Patrick is an empathetic and excellent attorney. He is professional, very responsive, and he was excellent explaining intricate details of the law to me in an intelligible way. I never felt rushed or unimportant with him. In fact, the opposite. His follow-up and efficiency was really impressive. He was on top of everything. Working with Patrick I realized just how horrendous my other attorney was. If you need a good, conscientious attorney, Patrick is your guy.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Media, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
