Peter jumped on seeing my son at the prison (still hard for me to say that) and then the very next day got rid of the felonies at court. My son and our family is forever thankful that Pete cared and worked his magic and gave my son a future unburdened by a felony! Thanks Pete!

LaMonaca Law Firm was a lifesaver throughout my divorce. Greg LaMonaca’s Brutally Honest Family Law Coaching helped me tremendously. It took me from feeling helpless and hopeless to the point that I realized I could and would make it through. When you are going through a divorce, you do not think clearly. This program helped me confront my fears, understand my past and realize that a future was possible for me. The Strategic Planning helped me to understand the legal side of the divorce. Never going through a divorce before, I had no idea what was in store. The team at LaMonaca Law was able to calm my fears and speak to me in a way that made sense at my level – leaving out all the confusing legal terms. I was treated like a team member and not another case. When I had my freak out moments and called or sent e-mails, my fears were calmed within minutes or hours. I even received calls/e-mails on the weekends. The firm is amazing, I’m not sure how they do it, but the empathy and care they provide when your life is being turned upside down is paramount. I would recommend this firm and the Brutally Honest Family Law Coaching and Strategic Planning to anyone going through a divorce. It truly helped me feel in total control of my situation.

“Your case is far from the norm”. For years, this is what I have heard, not only my attorneys, but from two Chester County judges and therapists/professionals in the double digits. My divorce and custody case was/is far from the norm. It has turned out to be a very challenging, trying, and emotional divorce/custody matter since 2013. Every step of the way, LaMonaca Law has been there for me in every possible way. Being falsely accused of matters that separates a parent their child is one of the most difficult and emotional situations a parent can go through. It is also one of the hardest things to combat and expose the truth, especially as a father and especially when the falsely accusing parent has an agenda to rid the falsely accused parent from the child’s life forever. This has been my situation. After hearing my story and studying my case, Greg and his staff had complete faith in me and what I was fighting for. This was/is so important to me, because without that faith and belief in me and my cause, LaMonaca Law would not be involved in my case. My case has been, and still is, a very difficult and emotional experience for not only me, but my family and loved ones. Greg and his staff have and keeps me grounded and focused on what I need to do to get through difficult times. I often receive calls from Greg to “check in” with me to make sure I am doing ok mentally. This is what separates Greg from other family law attorneys. He does this not only as my attorney, but also as a friend and a believer in justice. This firm truly cares about you and will fight for your legal rights. Over the course of my divorce/custody matter, there have been twists and turns that even Greg and his staff had not experienced but had anticipated. One of the best attributes of LaMonaca Law is their preparation and planning. Multiple scenarios are anticipated and there is always a plan A, B, C & D. Greg and his staff have the know-how to think outside the box and venture new and unchartered paths to reach the end goal. I know there are many fathers who have had their children taken away or have very limited access to them as well as fathers who have been disparaged and even wrongly accused of criminal acts committed against their children. LaMonaca Law has done groundbreaking work in uncharted territories in this area. I am not sure just how many clients LaMonaca Law has, but I am made to feel that I am their only client. If you need a superior Family Law firm to represent you, I strongly recommend the Law Firm of Gregory P. LaMonaca. Greg LaMonaca and his staff are true professionals in every sense of the word.

I was so impressed with LaMonaca Law, in the way they showed professionalism around my case. There is no question in my mind that every person there who worked on my case truly cared about me and my future. In a field - divorce law - that has a reputation for a distanced level of abrasiveness, LaMonaca law showed me nothing but a warm embrace based on personalized attention - I got to see a whole different side of what is usually an unpleasant process. Most importantly, they really know marital law, as well as all the idiosyncrasies that pertain to the guidelines and practices of Delaware County. They knew the details of my case, and they understood well the challenges I was dealing with in my divorce case. I stand squarely behind my recommendation of LaMonaca Law!

Mr. Fieger represented my two daughters for injuries that they suffered in a car accident. It was a limited tort case requiring proof of serious and permanent injury. Mr. Fieger did a fabulous job of proving that my daughters injuries were serious and permanent and obtained substantial recovery for both of my daughters. His knowledge and experience are of highest regard. He not only handled all the legal issues involved with the case he also gave us his support, understanding, compassion and caring beyond what would be expected from any attorney. He truly cares about his clients and goes above and beyond for them. I highly recommend Mr. Fieger.

Mr. Fieger was referred to me by a very good friend. I am so happy that I ended up at his office. My husband had just passed away unexpectedly and I was devastated. Neither I or my husband had a will. Now, in a very vulnerable state, I needed to get this done for my family. Mr. Fieger was very compassionate and helped put my mind at ease. From our very first meeting, I felt he was very knowledgeable and trustworthy. I will definitely be using him for my future needs.

Mr Fieger, from the start of our case-through detailed questioning and attentive preparation of the case's specific intricacies, gave us a calm confidence that we were in very good hands. His help in counseling thoughout the case made a very serious and harrowing situation much more tolerable. In the end, we felt we were justly compensated due to Mr. Fieger's diligent management of the entire case. We certainly would highly recommend him.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Media, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
