Mr. Epperson represented me and I am out of words with the high level of service that he provided. Mr. Epperson is a class act who was there for me every step of the way and he lived up to what he promised me during our first conversation. When I first called him, not knowing who he was, he did NOT sugarcoat, did NOT apply any fear tactics (like how other lawyers try), told me what might be the best case scenario of my case and promised me that he will do his very best to get me the best case scenario, and he did. He lived up to his promise and the advice he provided me before, during , and EVEN AFTER the case was truly priceless. This guy is a saint and he knows what he is doing. After my case was done, he took the time out to go out of his way to provide me additional advice and guidance and I cannot thank him enough for that. Trust me when I say this, I did a lot of googling where I shopped around for lawyers comparing prices and reviews, and I am so thankful that I went with Mr. Epperson. He is a class act who works diligently, efficiently, and effectively.

I hired Dietrich for a potentially complicated case. He's a straight shooter and doesn't sugar-coat the truth. He also doesn't try to scare you into hiring him (which seems typical with other lawyers). He's also a great negotiator with the other counsel and someone you want on your side. He's always patient and easy to reach (try to find that with other lawyers). We had a successful case resolution thanks to his expertise and persistance. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

We would like to share how fortunate we were that our friend recommended us to hire Mr. Dietrich Epperson to represent our son when he got into trouble and was charged with felony almost a year ago. Mr. Epperson is very knowledgeable, professional, and was very straightforward with us about the worst and the best possible outcomes. He didn't sugarcoat or mislead us in any way. He was able to gain our complete trust and guided us patiently in a direction of the best possible outcome. We followed his lead, did what he suggested, and got the outcome we could only hope for. Instead of possible jail time and criminal record, our son got 6 month ACD. This is the best result which we were hoping for. We were very impressed with the way Mr. Epperson handled our case. He is exactly the person anyone could hope for when in trouble and need criminal defense.

I hired Dietrich Epperson for my son's Criminal possession of a weapon case, the first time he went to court he got the case dismissed and seal. He was very informative about the case and let me know what was going on with the case at all times.

Dietrich was appointed to my fiancé on a criminal case, a felony to be exact. He was able to get him released from bookings with no bail even after then D.A. Was asking for $25k. To make it worse my fiancé was on parole for a violent offense in the past. Throughout the 30day wait period for the court hearing he was very informative about the case and let me know what was going on with the case at all times. I was actually surprised he wasn't one of those lawyers that you have to harrass constantly or you always get their secretaries and you have to harras them and still actually never get to the lawyer until the court date. He's quite the opposite of that. You call his number you reach him directly if he can't answer your call he sends you a text letting you know he's acknowledged your call but is busy at the moment and actually returns your call within minutes. I'm not from the state of NY so the legal system here differs greatly from what I know. He let me know everything I had to do when my fiancé got incarcerated for parole violation hence he had police contact with the arrest. Gave me step by step information on the process starting from the arrest all throughout the time my fiancee got sentenced. He was also kind enough to walked me through the process of sending commasary online, honestly if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have known anything nor would I have been able to take care of my fiance during his incarceration time. In the end he was able to get the entire thing resolved in a timely manner, showed up to court on time and I only had to go to court once to have this case resolved. Even a week after the case was done with he still text me first to see how we were doing. Dietrich Epperson is definitely one in a million lawyer, have yet to meet one that meets his services.

Peter jumped on seeing my son at the prison (still hard for me to say that) and then the very next day got rid of the felonies at court. My son and our family is forever thankful that Pete cared and worked his magic and gave my son a future unburdened by a felony! Thanks Pete!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Media, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
