I have a Legal Shield membership that gives me a discount for attorney fees, and Mr. Bonner took my case from Legal Shield. However, he does not return my calls or reply to my emails after he took the case. Also, he does not hand back the case to Legal Shield for another attorney to take over. I am not able to hire another attorney with the discount that Legal Shield offers because he is holding tight to the case while he does not want to communicate with me. Very very harmful.

James bonner seems to be a great “I want to help you lawyer in the beginning. I looked him up read the reviews and made the choice to contact his office to represent my husbands case. He said he could help so we signed all necessary papers, paid the fee to begin the process and shortly after it was hard to get in contact with the attorney, he didn’t have time to take a call or return calls before or after court. I wasn’t able to set up an appointment just to get an update. It was a lot of run around in that office. His secretary lied a few times about giving him messages to return calls and then played unaware that she didn’t know he didn’t call us. It was just way ti much and know I’m taking him to court. We basically fired him and he had not responded nor sent out a final bill or any money owed to us as noted via correspondence.

I live in NJ and I received a high points speeding ticket and careless driving ticket (possible suspension) while driving through PA. Knowing that it will impact my insurance and driving record I was very stressed and scared. I called every lawyer in that jurisdiction for help. I stopped searching when I came across Attorney Bonner. Attorney Bonner listened to me and heard my horrible experience with the cop. Attorney Bonner didn't point fingers at me or judge me, right away that's a big difference I noticed from other lawyers. He answered all my questions without rushing to end the call. He is a very knowledgeable lawyer, with a background in the special victims response unit. It shows in his professionalism. His response and manners helped right away. Even my family noticed the difference in me after I spoke to him, a major stress reduction. Attorney Bonner took care of my case. I did not have to drive 2hrs each way. My results were no points on my records and fines were reduced. His fees are reasonable and worth every penny. It's surprising (and helpful) to come across a humble lawyer who actually provides customer service. If the lawyer you just spoke with didn't listen to you, do yourself a favor.

Michael represented my preservation group Save Marple Greenspace and, later, the Whetstone Coalition which both fought to protect a 213 acre forested area in Delaware County. His knowledge of land use, zoning, and environmental law helped us fight off a very wealthy developer who had a platoon of attorneys. They were no match for Michael. He vanquished them, horse and foot.

Len Sloane is a fantastic attorney. He is thorough, timely, responsive, and a pleasure with which to work. He explained to me each step of the process and answered all of my questions. The size of the case did not matter to Len. He helped me settle a medium-sized traffic accident case. I would recommend Len to a stranger, a friend, and to a family member. Hopefully, I will not need a lawyer in the future but if I do, I will call Len Sloane at the Law Offices of Eckell Sparks.

Mr. Sloane is an extremely efficient as well as passionate attorney. He was always up to date on my case status whenever I asked him and was able to answer all my questions in terms that I was able to understand. He made me feel very comfortable with the legal process and gave helpful instructions when it came time to give a deposition. I was extremely satisfied with the results of my lawsuit and, if legal circumstances arise again, will be giving him a call first.

Mr Habakkuk was a hands on attorney dealing with our deceased parent's estate. He has the knowledge and experience but I found most importantly his communication skills and handling the family 'dynamics' so to say were exemplary. I have hired attorneys in the past and they were both horrible in keeping me abreast of the case or any explanations in the various stages let alone what to expect. My Haburcak had to deal with multiple siblings and their personalities which could have easily complicated matters in the situation at hand if he left us in the dark or didn't address our questions or individual needs. We will certainly hire him again especially when we purchase our next home too for he is also a licensed real estate broker. Getting a call back from him anytime was a none issue. Another thing the other attorneys didn't respect... returning calls

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Media, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
