I am more than happy with the services John provided throughout my experience. I was charged with DUI and had a prior charge back in the early '80s....did not know what to expect. John walked me through each step of the process and accompanied me to every legal event and hearing without exception. He was always accessible and was prompt in returning my every email; there was plenty of "hand holding" to calm my anxiety and concerns. Even after the sentencing, John resolved a problem with PennDOT that could have interfered with reinstatement of my license. I highly recommend John to anyone who must deal with the court system in Delaware County, PA. It will be worth your time to speak to him before choosing legal counsel to represent you.

I was badly injured in a car accident in 2011 when I was hit while sitting at a red light. I was referred to Mr. Kusturiss and thank God that I was. He was do very kind, understanding, caring, reassuring and patient with me He worked very diligently on my case and was very thorough. At the hearing I was highly impressed with his skill, knowledge and professionalism. He won my case. And I'll forever be grateful to him. I highly recommended him to anyone looking for the best attorney out there because that's him.

I was referred to Mr. Kusturiss by another Attorney who did not have Trial privileges in Delaware County PA. From my first meeting with Mr. Kusturiss, I had complete confidence in his competency to handle my MVA case. He was professional, compassionate and was happy to answer all of my questions, no matter how many and how many times I might ask the same question. He always treated me with respect and every request was was handled in a timely manner. His office was easy to get to and has ample free parking. The office staff were always kind and curteous and if Mr. Kusturiss was not available when I called they would get my messages to him and he would call me himself as soon as he was free, and always had the answer to my question. He was determined and thorough when researching my case and when obtaining all the necessary information to make my case strong and complete. My case was setteled in a favorable manner this past February, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I would HIGHLY recommend John Kusturiss, Jr. to anyone in need of a professinal, personable and extremely competent Attorney.

My family suffered a tragic and horrific loss back in 2011. I chose Mr. John Kusturiss to represent us, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. Mr. Kusturriss treated my family with respet and compassion in a very difficult time, he made it more than just an attorney to client relationship. Mr. Kusturiss fought for us and was our voice when we were unable to speak or fight for ourselves. He kept us up to date on all legal matters, he always made himself available to answer any questions or concerns we had. My family highly recommends Mr. Kusturiss or as he will tell you call him John. I made the right choice when I hired John to represent my family and would use his services again without hesitation if need be.

To make a long story short, I had a scuffle with my partner in our home which resulted in us both being arrested and charged with simple-assault. I had never in my 30 yr life been arrested...for ANYTHING. So needless to say, I was very upset, nervous...just freaked out. John, as well as the people in his office, patiently took time to field any and all questions I had, and more importantly, they showed human compassion for my situation. I had no idea what to expect when searching for a lawyer, dealing with court dates, etc. John made sure this process was smooth and efficient. He reassured me without making any "fancy" promises. At the end of the day, he more than exceeded my expectations. He was able to virtually eliminate this negative situation that I did not deserve to have effect me. I would highly recommend John E. Kusturiss Jr. and his firm. Thank you John & Firm!

I had a property that I was renting for quite a while close to 8 years making no money on it and dreaded foreclosure. When I finally reached the point that I needed to give up on it I did an internet search because I did not nowhere to turn. I came across Steven bottliglieri. He had some pretty good reviews and I thought I would give him a shot. He was able to adjust my foreclosure to the time frame that I needed. I feel that his pay rate was very reasonable. He often took emails and calls without charging me. Now after 3 years, my choice to prolong the foreclosure, he not only settled my claim completely without any further pay to the bank. I feel like he always answered my questions and he was always able to work with me when I had a little trouble switching jobs and needed to work out a payment plan. I never met him which I know is a scare for a lot of people but I will tell you he did everything he told me you would do and I feel like a little more I will always recommend him. -MJB

Sherri represented me in a matter within the last year. She obviously has a thorough knowledge of the law and I was impressed with her attention to detail. She got me the result I was hoping for and went the extra mile in order to do so. I've worked with a few attorneys in the past and she was definitely top-notch. I was especially pleased with how responsive she was to all of my questions. For all the work she did on my case, the fee was reasonable.

Michael and his team (namely, Heath Isaacs) handled the paperwork and the bankruptcy hearing (which I have just finished) professionally. All was done on time. I will leave another review when the bankruptcy is settled.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Media, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
