Mark and his staff represented me during my case and all I can say is that they were nothing short of amazing! Mark is professional, knowledgeable, and works tirelessly to support you during one of your worst times. Mark took the time to get to know me and he had my best interest in mind from day one. During this difficult time Mark was always one phone call or email away and was always at the ready when I had a question or concern. Mark cares about you and it shows in his work. Mark worked extremely hard for me and I was very impressed . I would not hesitate to work with Mark again as he did such an amazing job for me! I am so thankful for what Mark and his staff did for me as they did everything they could and then some. If you are searching for someone...search no more, Mark is the guy to go with!

I was involved in a vehicular accident with another motorist where I sustained injury as a result of the other driver. Following my accident, I felt the need to seek representation. Mark Sereni was recommended to me with high praise from a family member so I reached out to him and his team. After trading a few emails, I was able to set up a time to speak with Mark and his assistant Jonathan over the phone to go over the details of my encounter. Following the recap of the events, Mark graciously took the time to explain the legal rights that I would be entitled to, and to describe several possible scenarios that may occur. From each of the scenarios Mark would then describe the proceeding steps he would take and then the impacts each step would have on the outcome. At the conclusion of our conversation I felt confident that Mark had my best interests in mind. Mark gave me time to think about what we had discussed and after a day or so I reached out to him again, this time to employee his services. From the beginning Mark and his team worked diligently to push the insurance companies toward a determination. All the while keeping me informed throughout the process. Sure enough, things unfolded pretty much exactly as Mark had described. It was clear that he was prepared and ahead of each step of the process. Things moved surprisingly quickly thanks to Mark and his team’s persistence and they were able to achieve the “best case” scenario out of all the potential outcomes. Because of this the return covered my expenses, damages, and pain & suffering bringing me to as close to whole as I could ask for. Thanks Mark! Sean

Kristen worked on a custody case with our granddaughter and was very professional and informative by helping us understand the legal system. She stayed in contact regularly with updates and was always available for questions without making us feel like we were an inconvenience. Always kept our granddaughter as the most important thing in the process. We will be forever grateful for her guidance and support during a very difficult period in our family. Everything has turned out well but during the crisis, Kristen was there for us!

I hired Kristen in 2008 when I filed for divorce. She led the fight in the complicated mess that I was involved in due to multiple businesses and real estate holdings that my X and I had acquired. Kristen was extremely well prepared at every turn of the case, always ready with answers for the opposition and/or the court. Her skill set include but not limited to determination, perseverance, brilliance, communication, patience (except when opposing counsel is an idiot), frugality (always trying to save me money in billable hours) and most importantly to me ...she was passionate about the case! She wanted me to have the best outcome possible and to that end, SHE DID!! The settlement was more than I could have ever wished for. I got to keep my businesses and my real estate which allowed me to support my children. There are no winners in divorce but Kristen mitigated my losses better than I expected. I want to thank her and her staff for a job well done! Mike

Michael and his team (namely, Heath Isaacs) handled the paperwork and the bankruptcy hearing (which I have just finished) professionally. All was done on time. I will leave another review when the bankruptcy is settled.

I had a dispute with a partner and Todd handled my part of the case. He got me the best deal. He worked on my behalf and got me to keep focused on the situation and to take the emotions out of the case. Todd got me to compromise when I need to even though it was lost business and revenue for himself. Thank you Todd

  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Media, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
