I was facing serious charges a year ago. I hired a private lawyer but they were not really helpful. I was going through hearings without really feeling I was being helped by my attorney. Then it got to a point where they needed more money to proceed with the case. I was feeling hopeless. They asked for a ridiculous amount of money that I did not have and they were not really helpful to begin with. So I started looking for another lawyer to help my situation. My uncle, through a lawyer friend of his recommended Steven Omeara. After going with Mr. Omeara i totally lost that feeling of hopelessness that I had. Steven was very helpful and fought very diligently for me. He was always on top of things. He is a well recognized lawyer and I must say that I got a first hand look as to why he is so sought after. Steven helped me get into a program where they will expunge my charges upon completion. The previous lawyer I had failed to get me into the program but Steven did. I couldnt be where Im at without Steven Omeara. And I highly recommend him for all your legal matters.

Steven is the best Attorney that I had experience with in the legal system and has been proven to fight for his clients until the truth exonerated them. He is very Knowledgeable when it comes to the law and has a good working relationship with his colleagues that earns him much respect. He is proficient at his profession and takes on a case with zeal and passion like none that I have seen. I am very Thankful to have him represent me and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who was wronged by untruthful and manipulators of the system. If you are truly innocent and need someone who actually cares about your wellbeing and your rights then I would highly recommend him.

Mr. O'Meara is a compassionate attorney with high morals. He places the interests of his clients first on his list while bringing results. I had the pleasure of utilizing his services to investigate my legal rights in a personal situation. As a result, he gave advice that was to my best interests. There are many attorneys/firms out there that will do all they can to raise revenue by being dishonest, but Steven is 100% true to his clients. A+ Attorney!

Kristen worked on a custody case with our granddaughter and was very professional and informative by helping us understand the legal system. She stayed in contact regularly with updates and was always available for questions without making us feel like we were an inconvenience. Always kept our granddaughter as the most important thing in the process. We will be forever grateful for her guidance and support during a very difficult period in our family. Everything has turned out well but during the crisis, Kristen was there for us!

I hired Kristen in 2008 when I filed for divorce. She led the fight in the complicated mess that I was involved in due to multiple businesses and real estate holdings that my X and I had acquired. Kristen was extremely well prepared at every turn of the case, always ready with answers for the opposition and/or the court. Her skill set include but not limited to determination, perseverance, brilliance, communication, patience (except when opposing counsel is an idiot), frugality (always trying to save me money in billable hours) and most importantly to me ...she was passionate about the case! She wanted me to have the best outcome possible and to that end, SHE DID!! The settlement was more than I could have ever wished for. I got to keep my businesses and my real estate which allowed me to support my children. There are no winners in divorce but Kristen mitigated my losses better than I expected. I want to thank her and her staff for a job well done! Mike

I originally hired Lorraine Finnegan as my attorney, spent $1000's. She failed to inform me of a missed payment for my ARD, I showed up to my court date and someone gave me Terah's name; Terah told me she'd stand for me while I apply for a PD, I immediately got approved and Terah had my case fixed within 10 minutes!! Best I've ever seen in Delaware Co.

I had a dispute with a partner and Todd handled my part of the case. He got me the best deal. He worked on my behalf and got me to keep focused on the situation and to take the emotions out of the case. Todd got me to compromise when I need to even though it was lost business and revenue for himself. Thank you Todd

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Media, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
