Diane guided me through my divorce, always keeping me aware of all of my options. She also helped me out with my bankruptcy which took place as a result of my divorce. NOT only was my debt discharged, but I was given great advice on how to go about rebuilding my credit!

I initially was unsure weather or not hire an attorney to represent me in my support and custody case. The first few hearings I spoke on my own behalf and it was horrible! Nothing was being ruled in my favor and I had serious concerns of losing custody of my 3 young sons. Luckily I found Diane and I am so thankful! She has gone above and beyond and her attention to detail is immaculate. Her knowledge and understanding of the law shows her years of experience. But the quality I appreciate the most is that Diane has a heart but is not afraid to sink her teeth in and fight to the bitter end! She is definitely someone you want on your team and I truly believe I would most likely not have custody of my children were it not for her. She has helped me keep my family together and I will most definitely continue to use her as my representation in any future cases. She gets results!

I hired Diane to handle my divorce and child custody matter. What I thought would be an amicable divorce and custody matter turned into a complete nightmare. Diane worked tireless to ensure my children and I were safe, and got us the results I know we would not have gotten with anyone other attorney. My children and I are forever grateful that we had Diane as our counsel. She is knows the law, has a quick wit and gets results. She is not a pushover for anyone. If you have a serious matter, I highly recommend her - just be ready to listen to her.

Daine helped me with my financial problems -- credit card debt and, ultimately bankruptcy. She knows the law and does everything she can to ensure the best possible outcome for you. She is very responsive and aids you in every aspect of your trial or bankruptcy hearing. She tells you things exactly as they are, lets you know your chances (good or bad) and the best solution for you to take. She will fight for you tooth and nail. She is on your side every step of the way. I cannot tell you how much better she made difficult situations. I highly recommend hiring Diane for all of your legal needs. Choosing Diane was one of the best choices I have ever made in my life particularly during some difficult times.

I had a great experience with David Spitofsky assisting me with my bankruptcy, Anytime I needed to speak with him he would call back and assist me, without me having to call multiple times to speak with him, even with things others may have thought were unnecessary or annoying questions that I may have had, he never made me feel as if I was bothersome. He's always taken his time to explain any of the paperwork and procedures and kept me on top of everything that was happening with my case. I'm very grateful to have had him as a Attorney and would advise others to work with him as well. Hoping I won't need his assistance again but if so I will definitely use him again. Thank You David Spitofsky for all you help.

He has done great work on my case and has gone above and beyond what his duties as my pd normally would be ! Even after my case has been decided he is helping me file motions and getting things that were confiscated back and with my fines as well!!! A great man and wonderful lawyer if I had the money I would have hired him out right ! He's done a great job with me and my case and would hire him again if I ever had to! I was referred to Mr. George M. Griffith Jr. to handle my first criminal offense case by a good friend. He is very efficient especially responding back to left messages and emails. I was very nervous considering this is my first time getting into trouble but at our first meeting he reviewed and explained all my possible opinions. Also his office is located right across from the court house which makes this experience easier for me. His fees are also affordable.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Norristown, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
