Getson & Schatz handled my EB2 NIW follow-to-join case as the spouse of a Green Card holder, and I had the pleasure of working with Brian Getson. The entire process was straightforward and took about six months, culminating in the visa approval on the day of the consular interview. Brian's most crucial advice was on timing our paper filings to minimize processing times, which saved us at least a year of separation between me and my spouse. This advice was not provided by other attorneys we consulted. For that alone we are very grateful. Additionally, Brian's extensive knowledge of the process, attention to detail, and responsiveness to our questions were invaluable. I personally enjoyed his honest, no-nonsense, and to-the-point responses. Overall, we had an excellent experience and I would highly recommend Brian Getson and Getson & Schatz.

I would like to recommend Brian and his team to researchers who plan to go through EB-2 or EB-1. I am an entomologist with specific expertise in pests of agriculture, so I had hoped to obtain a green card through EB2 National Interest Waiver. Now it is a reality. I found Brian through the internet and from the start he was clear and straightforward. He explained to me what are the strong sides of my case and where are potential weaknesses. If I would prepare a case by myself, I would definitely make all of the mistakes that Brian helped me to avoid. He is extremely responsible, and detail focused. He answered every single email in very short terms. During our work through the case he and his team were always extremely fast when preparing my paperwork. Overall it took about 6 month to prepare the case. 18 month to receive an NIW approval, and then only 4 month to receive a green card ( I applied for residency only after I had approved the case ). I think Brian prices are fair and just and it is comfortable to pay fees on a monthly basis, especially if you consider it as a great investment in your future. Overall, I am impressed how good and straightforward the whole process was. I wish Brian many more years of happy life with successful cases that will change the lives of many people. Thank you, Brian.

I am thrilled to share my experience of a successful immigration process to obtain a Green Card through my professional background. This journey has been nothing short of transformative, and I am immensely grateful for the support and guidance I received throughout the entire process. I embarked on this endeavor with aspirations of establishing a more secure and promising future for myself and my family. The path to obtaining a Green Card can be daunting, filled with complexities and legal intricacies. However, with the assistance of Brian and his team, the process became understandable and manageable. From the outset, Brian exhibited unparalleled professionalism, competence, and expertise. Brian navigated me through the labyrinthine U.S. immigration system, ensuring all necessary documents and paperwork were prepared accurately and promptly. Additionally, their transparency in explaining the timeline and potential hurdles instilled a sense of confidence in the entire undertaking. Throughout the application process, Brian maintained open lines of communication, promptly addressing any concerns or queries I had. Their promptness in responding to emails reassured me that my case was given the attention it deserved. The manner of gathering all documention in the process is well detailed and organized. They also have an easy and secure system to share any personal information and documentation needed. Overall, I never felt alone during this endeavor, and this unwavering support was invaluable. Another aspect that set Brian apart was their attention to detail. They meticulously reviewed all documentation, double-checking for accuracy, and ensuring every "i" was dotted and every "t" was crossed. This attention to detail was instrumental in avoiding any potential delays or setbacks. In relation to costs, right from the beginning, he was transparent with every penny that was going to be spent. The guarantee they offer to return the money if the process fails made me see the commitment that Brian has towards what he does. After all, nobody works hard to return the money, right? In a way, my husband and I feel secure with our decision to have chosen him for this process. Thanks to Brian and his team, my Green Card application was approved. I attribute this success to their dedication, expertise on what they do. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Brian and his team to anyone seeking assistance in the immigration process. Their seamless and meticulous approach made what seemed like an insurmountable task a reality. Their expertise in handling Green Card applications, coupled with their personal touch, sets them apart as one of the leading immigration services. Brian and his team have not just enabled me to secure a Green Card; they have helped me carve a path towards a brighter and more promising future. My heartfelt thanks go out to them for their pivotal role in this life-changing journey.

Angela took such good care of us. She worked with my wife and me through the adoption of our second child. In that process she also caught and fixed an error in our first child’s adoption made by a previous law firm. She was kind, clear, timely and supportive. She held our hands through the process of setting up our will and making lots of important decisions. We can’t recommend Angela enough! I wish we had found her at the beginning of our adoption journey.

Truly cannot recommend Angela enough — she made the estate planning process as painless as it could possibly be and was able to offer profoundly helpful, real-world answers to all of my questions. No one wants to contemplate their own death and the aftermath — but as Angela advised me, one of most loving things we can do for those we leave behind is to have a plan. I’m very pleased with my experience and feel so much better knowing that I leave my loved ones with the certainty of my wishes. Thanks Angela!

Attorney Youman has the qualities one would expect and hope for from a lawyer. I hired Mr. Youman for a malpractice suit. Mr. Youman’s law firm, Kline & Specter, is a leader in malpractice litigation. This is easy to believe given Mr. Youman’s skill. Mr. Youman stated from the outset what and what not to expect. He made no outrageous promises, yet fought for me every step of the way. Aside from aggressively pursuing justice, I was quite impressed with Mr. Youman’s knowledge and insights about malpractice law and procedures. He actually made the case look easy (although it was not)! Even further, Mr. Youman and his support staff ran a very efficient operation. Phone calls and emails were promptly returned. Professionalism and courtesy were ever-present. And, of course, we won the case -- despite a formidable and powerful opponent. Highly recommended.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
