I found Dana through AVVO. Not only is Dana a great lawyer, she’s straight to the point and upfront on her opinion and doesn’t beat around the bush. Dana and her team have been great. Every time I reached out to Dana, whether it be email or phone, if Dana couldn’t call me back, one of her amazing staff members did. She has been on top of every detail in my case and no matter the challenges are set against us due to my past medical history, Dana is fighting hard to prove my past medical history shouldn’t make it ok for those who caused my injuries to not pay for their negligence. She’s a woman who stands strong for her clients.

I was involved in a slip & fall & reached out to Dana weitz for representation. Dana fought to get me the settlement that you thought that I deserved. She always took my phone call and got back to me in a timely matter. She was sympathetic to my needs and a pleasure to deal with. I got a very nice settlement thanks to Dana. I would highly recommend her and her firm!!

My accident case isn’t exactly cut & dry. There are many intricate details & things that may or may not apply that heavily impacted the value on my case. From the moment I hired Schatz & Steinberg firm & my case was given to Dana Weitz, this very traumatic & difficult time has been a breeze! First I’d like to say that I received support on a very personal level which was a great help. Anytime that I had a problem & sometimes it wasn’t case related…They were there to help! More importantly, Dana has been so meticulous going over every fine detail, recognizing issues that could’ve been detrimental & went above and beyond IMMEDIATELY & fixing them! Not only that, my phone calls & emails are always answered fairly quickly, and I’m not treated just as a client, but as a friend! This firm has helped, supported, and guided me through a time where I was confused, injured, upset & not knowing where to turn. They’ve held my hand the entire way! I am more than satisfied with the outcome, and would highly recommend Dana to anyone who has found themselves in a position where you’re injured and need an attorney. Rest assured she will take very good care of you!

From the moment I called Dana Weitz I knew my case was in excellent, knowledgeable and competent hands. Dana’s detective work from following leads to keeping us updated on twists and turns throughout the process was appreciated greatly. She is a constant professional. She diligently worked on our case and accommodated our circumstances without hesitation. The outcome of our case demonstrated her talent, her relentless drive for success and her acceptance of nothing less than what was deserved. Her education not only in the field of law but also in her knowledge of my physical condition and limitations caused by the accident was astonishing. She is a top notch professional and I would recommend her to any of my family members or friends.

Angela took such good care of us. She worked with my wife and me through the adoption of our second child. In that process she also caught and fixed an error in our first child’s adoption made by a previous law firm. She was kind, clear, timely and supportive. She held our hands through the process of setting up our will and making lots of important decisions. We can’t recommend Angela enough! I wish we had found her at the beginning of our adoption journey.

Truly cannot recommend Angela enough — she made the estate planning process as painless as it could possibly be and was able to offer profoundly helpful, real-world answers to all of my questions. No one wants to contemplate their own death and the aftermath — but as Angela advised me, one of most loving things we can do for those we leave behind is to have a plan. I’m very pleased with my experience and feel so much better knowing that I leave my loved ones with the certainty of my wishes. Thanks Angela!

Angela is a wonderful attorney; tough, smart, always on point and a joy to work with. I am so grateful for her dedication and expertise with all of my Estate Planning and personal protection needs. Angela is unique in the field of law because she is so thorough and knowledgeable but also incredibly kind, personable and compassionate. Having my paperwork thoughtfully and professionally executed is such a relief. I don't have to think about them anymore and I can go enjoy my life. Having an attorney to protect my well being has allowed me to regain so much of my health and my life. A huge bow of gratitude to Angela Giampolo and Giampolo Law.

Excellent attorney. When my office becomes involved in a complicated Real estate matter Mr. Hayes is the first person I will contact. He is very well respeected in the Title Insurance industry and he is an excellent trial lawyer . I have had the pleasure to be in the Court Room with Mr. Hayes and found him to be very well prepared and in total command of the client's case .

Attorney Youman has the qualities one would expect and hope for from a lawyer. I hired Mr. Youman for a malpractice suit. Mr. Youman’s law firm, Kline & Specter, is a leader in malpractice litigation. This is easy to believe given Mr. Youman’s skill. Mr. Youman stated from the outset what and what not to expect. He made no outrageous promises, yet fought for me every step of the way. Aside from aggressively pursuing justice, I was quite impressed with Mr. Youman’s knowledge and insights about malpractice law and procedures. He actually made the case look easy (although it was not)! Even further, Mr. Youman and his support staff ran a very efficient operation. Phone calls and emails were promptly returned. Professionalism and courtesy were ever-present. And, of course, we won the case -- despite a formidable and powerful opponent. Highly recommended.

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
