My tax preparer had messed up some of my returns pertaining to offshore accounts. I reached out to Joe as a former client. Joe called me back within the hour and listened patiently to my situation. He offered a plan that he felt would address the situation and I agreed to hire him. Joe immediately got to work. He worked tirelessly including late evenings, respected my time constraints and filed the required amendments on time. He was simply amazing to work with - he was always patient and willing to take the time to explain in layman's terms. His knowledge of US tax law especially pertaining to offshore accounts is awesome. His fees are also quite reasonable considering the amount of work he put in. Mr. Viola is an exemplary attorney, tax advisor, and human being. He does not take any client, so if you get to be his client, know that you are a fortunate person and that your tax issues will be handled in the best way possible. My story: My problems started a few years before I contacted him, when I realized I had assets in another country that required special tax forms. During these years, tax season became an extremely stress-generating and frustrating experience. Mostly in part due to other tax firms not delivering what they had promised. Always responsive, he was the only person during all these years who called me and spent over an hour on the phone to go over the return to make sure everything was right. No one else had done this before him. And thanks to his diligence, expertise, and experience, the amended tax return was filed successfully. I was looking for a lawyer knowledgeable in foreign bank accounts. I chose Joseph Viola, Philadelphia. He was listed in the Martindale-Hubble Law Directory. He was very generous with his time in our first telephone conversation and in all following interactions. He charged me a reasonable flat-rate and not a separate fee for every hour and every ten minutes. He was transparent with his explanations. When IRS forms and questions became too complicated and worrisome, Viola stepped in and did the actual figuring and work for me. First and foremost, Mr. Joseph Viola is GREAT guy, he's EXTREMELY TAX LAW KNOWLEGABLE, PROFESSIONAL, PASSIONATE about his BUSINESS and DEPENDABLE! I'm a small business owner and I had at least 6 years of back taxes that needed to be in current status. It wasn't that I didn't want to file, but there were several unfortunate events that prevented me from accomplishing that goal. My original tax accountant passed away (rip), his uncle in the business inherited my account and became ill, he then passed it to a guy in Delaware, which let it sit for a year, then I was refered to a tax accountant in NJ, which was fine just too slow, and because I was not that educated in the tax system, I became product of the TAX ENVIRONMENT (Back Taxes, Heavy Interest Fees, Liens, Threating Letters, etc...) a total nightmare! That's when I did my own extensive research for a local Tax Attorney, that could possibly sort through this mess of past tax issues and found Mr. Viola. OVDP is a way to end a potential IRS nightmare. However, complying with the IRS, your bank, and their attorneys' demands can be complicated and time consuming. There is a great deal of conflicting information on the internet on the subject of OVDP, and if you want to do the right thing, you need someone on your side who is knowledgable and competent. Joe is not a fast talking tax attorney, but he is thoughtful in his responses and takes his time with each and every question.　 His clear explanations and confidence afford a great deal of information and will set your mind at ease.
