Cons

Dan has gone above and beyond with my custody case. He is the reason I gained sole custody of my children. Dan was sure to gather all of the facts in proving my case solid. I can’t thank him enough for his hard work and effort during my time of need. Dan was exceptional! Even when I had to file paperwork out of state he was there every step of the way! He never missed a beat. Thank you Dan for all of your hard work at a reasonable cost. I couldn’t be happier with Dan’s approach and the outcome. I highly recommend Dan to anyone dealing with a custody issue.

He kept making me feel bad like he was working on and going above and beyond for my case. Then would make comments about me paying him more. He got snippy with me and told me that he has done too much and I needed to pay him more. He accomplished nothing of what I asked. The simplest of task he failed. I went to him in July and did nothing until September. I heard excuse after excuse. I would not recommend him. I paid him to give my ex everything. I felt like I hired him for my ex.

I have consulted with Attorney Hargreaves extensively over health matters of grave importance to my family. Through his guidance and dedication I was able to secure safety for the future of my frail father which I would not have been able to do without him. Thanks to his diligence My father and I have peace of mind knowing he now has documents in place that protect his wants and wishes should his health decline further. What I felt so grateful for was the fact that Attorney Hargreaves took so much of his time to explain to me what our options were and what he thought was best based on our specific situation. He was very clear on what he could and could not do for me and I was grateful for his frank honesty about what he is able to provide. Consulting with him was a joy and a comfort; he is after all quite gregarious. My father and I now trust him implicitly and I will always be thankful that I had such deft and sound guidance from a professional who knows his trade inside and out.

I was looking for legal counsel who would be able to help lead me to a solution for my fathers declining health status. Through word of mouth I had heard that Daniel Hargreaves was a great Family Law Attorney in Beaver County So I contacted him immediately. Not only did he live up to his reputation, he surpassed it. He spent many hours patiently explaining the best legal options for my fathers specific health condition. He was clear on what he could and could not do for us and I appreciated his direct, honest and clear manner of communication. By the end of the process, thanks to Attorney Hargreaves leadership and guidance; my father had gotten all of the documents he needed completed so that his wishes will be honored to completion when he is no longer of sound kind due to his progressive illness. The peace of mind that Attorney Hargreaves has afforded our family is truly a priceless commodity and we will always be grateful to have worked with such a deft and kind professional. Attorney Hargreaves for your dedication and in depth knowledge of your trade. Your effective and wise counsel has given my father needed relief and we thank you.

Dan seems to care about his clients. It appears that he has many and works hard and has long hours. He seems professional and affordable. So far he has got me a fair deal on support and has answered all other questions to put me at ease with the ongoings of the situation.

Good lawyer. Strong advocacy. Down to earth and understands each individual clients needs. Steve will throw everything on the line to stand up for his clients in court and is not a pushover.

Adam Petrun and crew bend over sideways to accommodate what is needed for clients to close. PREADIUM Real Estate Services is very particular in who we recommend to close transactions for our clients. I am particularly impressed with Three Rivers attention to the often overlooked FIRPTA issue. Highly recommend

My wife and I used Three Rivers settlement for our purchase of a home from a family member and made the process extremely easy and smooth. We had somewhat of a unique situation with seller financing and Adam drew up all the necessary documents and made everything very understandable for us. I am a realtor myself and will definitely be using Three Rivers Settlement again in the near future. Thank you and thank you Adam!

Great settlement company that I can strongly recommend. Three Rivers did the closing on my house. As a first time buyer working without a realtor I had lots of naive questions, and needed some hand-holding through the process. They were extremely professional, patient in explaining the process and answering all my questions promptly. Adam helped me to find the correct standard contracts and addendums, was easily reachable and the closing costs were comparable to other closing companies. Closing was very smooth and Adam was happy to take time to explain the documents at closing, which I appreciated. Great service.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Sewickley, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
